JOHN A. FIGLIOZZI- Many would probably be surprised to learn that the
longest running drama on radio is the program entitled "Unshackled",
produced by the Pacific Garden Mission of Chicago and broadcast by,
among others, HCJB and WWCR. There is an interesting article about the
program in the Arts and Leisure section of the Sunday New York Times. To
read the article online, click on
<http://www.nytimes.com/yr/mo/day/artleisure/radio-religion.html>. You
may be required to register at the Times web site in order to read this
and other articles, but there is no charge to do so. John Figliozzi

0015- 4635 TAJIKISTAN- Radio Dushanbe at 0015 with ID in E at 0000
"Radio Dushanbe" noted SINPO 33333. (Vos, The Netherlands)

0018- 5010- INDIA- AIR Thiruvananthapuram, *0018-0039, Massive OC, AIR
IS, partial AIR ID by deep-voiced man, into vocal music. Heard end of
news in EG by man at 0039 recheck. Unbelieveably strong!!! Heard on a
very good Indian opening. Besides this and 4800 Hyderabad, here's a
rundown of what was observed during quick monitoring at 0035-0045: 3223
Just a het --- 3245.07 Just the ZY here --- 3315 Bits of music --- 3345
talk by man, extremely weak. --- 4760 Nothing --- 4790 Pleasant
Nepalese-like vocal music --- 4840 Talk by man, //4860 at 0030. --- 4850
Blocked by Cameroon --- 4860 Vocal Indian music, pres. news after
0030. --- 4880 Weak audio, robably the ZY --- 4920 Talk by man --- 4970
Nothing --- 5050 Nothing --- Also heard what was probably Nepal on
5005.4 at 0012. (Valko, USA 1 Sept.)

0023- 4800- INDIA- AIR Hyderabad, *0023, Found OC here, then sign-on
routine same as heard on AIR Thiru 5 minutes earlier (see below): IS
started at 0023, man with possible AIR ID and vocal music. Not really
strong but readable amidst QRM from 4799.78 Guatemala. (Valko, USA 1
Sept.)

0139-4750.07- PERU- R. San Francisco Solano (pres.), 0139-0204*, Nonstop
OA campo music. Live man announcer finally at 0151 with rapid talk.
Thought heard mentions of San Francisco Solano and probably mention of
onda corta. Back to music, followed by the OA NA (instru. version) at
0201. Sounded like a canned sign off announcement by deep-voiced man
over music after the NA at 0203, then gone at 0204. A little distorted
with freq varying between 4750.06-.09. Best heard in a long time. (Valko
31 August)

0305- 4930.6 HONDURAS- R. Costenya 0305-0420 Sunday morning: Messy
program with male in Spanish with pianomusic in background, followed by
a few minutes silence, then a string of ads, next a silent period
lasting for ten minutes, then ads again and a "La Voz de la Palabra"
slogan noted. Then again silence for ten minutes, ads, another ten
minutes silence when finally at 0352 with the playing of LA relipop and
some more ads at 0410 continuity returned: some tentative IDs and no
more silence heard ;-). On weekdays I hear Russian on 4930 around this
time. ID was "Voice of the Russian People" (relay from Turkmenistan?) on
September 8 at 0230 and mixed with the not-that-usual Utility qrm from
Poland. Poor signal. (Pijpers, The Netherlands Sep 5)
