[HCDX] New programs and frequency test coming on WRMI

Hello! This is compiled from news I received from Jeff White of WRMI
and from Frederick Moe, the producer of the new "Seldom Heard Radio"
program that is described below. Thanks to them both for sharing this
information.

Marie Lamb

UNITED STATES WRMI Two new programs are coming to WRMI. "Seldom
Heard Radio," produced by Frederick Moe, will have its first airing
on Saturday, October 7 on 7385 at 0500-0530 UTC (0100 Eastern Time and
0000 Central Time on Saturday; 11 P.M. Mountain Time and 10 P.M. Pacific
Time on Friday, October 6). "Seldom Heard Radio" will focus on obscure
folk, folk-rock, ethnic and psychedelic music from the Americas, Europe
and around the world. The next program will be heard two weeks later in
the same time slot. After that, according to Jeff White, new programs
should appear on the first and third weeks of each month at 0500 UTC.
Frederick Moe hopes to air the program on a more frequent basis as time
and better equipment allow for it.

Another program coming to this time slot on the second and fourth weeks of
the month (and also the fifth week, when applicable) will be "Mi
Seferino." This program deals with the history of the Sephardic Jews of
the Southwestern United States. The host and producer is Levi ben
Macario, who is a descendant of the Sephardic Jews who were forced to flee
Spain during the Inquisition and Expulsion of 1492. Each program will
feature guests and music. The program will be repeated at 2100 UTC (5
P.M. Saturday Eastern time) on 9955 kHz. "Mi Seferino" has a Web page at
http://www.miseferino.com, and e-mails may be sent to
miseferino@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Both "Seldom Heard Radio" and "Mi Seferino" are in English.

WRMI will also begin tests of a new daytime frequency for North America,
15725 kHz. The tests will probably begin October 2nd, and will occur at
various times during the period of 1200-2200 UTC, but it may not
necessarily be on for the whole period. The new frequency will only be
in use on weekdays; Jeff White says that weekends will probably stay on
9955 to Latin America during the same time period for the moment, but they
may also switch to 15725 if results are good.

Also, WRMI will maintain all of its programs at the same local time
when the United States goes back to Standard Time on October 29th, which
means that all programs will be one hour later according to UTC time.
For example, after the time change, "Seldom Heard Radio" and "Mi Seferino"
will be heard at 0600 UTC time, but they will be at the same local times
for North American listeners.
