[HCDX] DU DX LOG
Greetings everyone;
Another good DU morning with many 5 KWers heard. I started hearing them
by
0630 UTC Nov 3rd, and they were pretty much in all night until sunrise
this morning. I "cat napped" off and on to see if cx were going to get
really wild, but they didn't. Not a bad morning, but no new ones logged.
In the beginning from the period by about 0700-0800 UTC I was getting
some high band New Zealanders that were strong. Later I lost them like
1593 & 1386.
531 NEW ZEALAND, Auckland, 1XPI, Pacific Islands Radio, good with a
woman ancr in btoken EE at 0745 11/3. (PM-OR)
549 NEW ZEALAND, Napier/Gisborne 2XC, fair in KMVI splatter with
soft organ mx at 0740 11/3. (PM-OR)
550 HAWAII, Wailuku KMVI, good and domanant over KOAC with ESPN
Sports talk after 0600+ UTC 11/3 (PM-OR)
558 FIJI, Suva fair with Island music and man in Fijian at 0715
11/3. Fiji sure does not have the signals they once had. The old 890/891
used to be armchair copy years back. (PM-OR)
567 NEW ZEALAND, Wellington 2YA, still one of the first DUs to show
up. Heard with Adults standards type mx at 0615 11/3. (PM-OR)
570 HAWAII, Lihue, KQNG, very good and domant over presumed KLAC
with Adults Standards, no sign of KVI at 0730 11/3. KQNG with talk.

576 NEW ZEALAND, Hamilton, 1XLR, Southern Star, good with Rel. MOR
type mx at 0655 11/3 (PM-OR)
590 HAWAII, Honolulu KSSK, good o/KUGN,etc. with pop music and
cluster of ads and promo at 0721 11/3 "on KSSK" (PM-OR)
594 AUSTRALIA, Horsham 3WV, fair with ABC News at 1200 11/3. Not the
usual strong signals. (PM-OR)
612 AUSTRALIA, Brisbane 4QR, fair with ABC News at 1202 11/3.

t639 AUSTRALIA, Coffs Harbour, 2CS or 2HC, presume the commercial
station in KFI splatter with tele. talk. At 1230 11/3 (PM-OR)
657 NEW ZEALAND, Wellington, Southern Star //576 at 1120 11/3

702 AUSTRALIA, Sydney 2BL, fair mixing with 1XP (Radio Pacific) at
1220 11/3. Auusie and NZ accented ancers. (PM-OR)
702 NEW ZEALAND, Auckland, 1XP, Radio Pacific, good at 1007 with
weather for the North and South Island, Time checks, Radio Pacific
mention, into talk show 11/3. (PM-OR)
711 NEW ZEALAND, Wellington 2XP // to 702 but weaker with 710 splat.
I checked 710 and found a mix of LA/Seattle on there, so the usual KIRO
splat was not as bad, at 1010 11/3 (PM-OR)
720 HAWAII, Eleele KUAI, very good with accented Hawaiian ancr
playing a mix of Hawaiian and US pops, and KUAI ID in passing at 0630

729 AUSTRALIA, Adelaide 5RN, soft music and woman ancr at 1245 11/3

738 NEW ZEALAND, Christchurch, Radio Pacific // 702 and 711 at 1011

1325 11/3 (PM-OR)
801 NEW ZEALAND, Nelson 2XL Radio Rhema fair in splash (KGO-810)
with soft rel. mx in passing at 0740 11/3 (PM-OR)
819 NEW ZEALAND, Rotorua 1YZ, fair // 760 with Radio National
programming at 0835 11/3 (PM-OR)
855 AUSTRALIA, Marysborough/Eidsvoid 4QB/4QO here with ABC news at
1304 11/3 (PM-OR)
864 AUSTRALA, Toowoomba 4GR, good at 1248 11/3 with man announcer
giving commercial "right here on 4GR", was tagged. (PM-OR)
873 AUSTRALIA, Sydney 2GB, good with talk at 1306 11/3, ancr "2GB"
mention, while looking for the 4AY translator from Northern Q (350
watts), but no luck. (PM-OR)
882 AUSTRALIA, Brisbane 4BH with "Brisbanes 4BH" at 1310 11/3
(PM-OR)
891 AUSTRALIA, Townsville 4TAB, presume the racing results at 0743
11/3 by man. (PM-OR)
900 Kahului KNUI, very good with nice Hawaiian pops all night,
first heard at 0530 of there abouts, many "KNUI" IDs. This is an easy
one to ID, with local programming and all of the IDs. 11/3 (PM-OR)
909 NEW ZEALAND, Napier, Southern Star fair in splatter //576 at
0654 11/3 (PM-OR)
927 AUSTRALIA, Gladstone 4CC, fair with man ancr at 1245 11/3 with
"4-Double C" ID. (PM-OR)
981 NEW ZEALAND, Timaru Southern Star //909 at 0741 11/3 (PM-OR)
1008 AUSTRALIA, Brisbane 4TAB, presume the TAB station here at 1030
with racing results 11/3. (PM-OR)
1017 AUSTRALIA, Sydney 2KY, with man ancr saying "You can get the
information by.......here at 2KY" at 1259 11/3. (PM-OR)
1026 AUSTRALIA, MacKay 4MK, presume the pop mx in passing. This one
seems to be off freq, a bit higher that 1026 causing a growl on the
channel. At 1250 11/3. (PM-OR)
1116 AUSTRALIA, Brisbane 4BC, still one of the strongest DUs on the
morning as usual with talk, many "4BC" IDs at 1220 11/3 (PM-OR)
1152 FIJI, Rakiraki, better than 558 with Island mx and man ancr in
Fijian at 1011 11/3 (PM-OR)
1179 NEW ZEALAND? presume the source of the drum music at 0830 11/3,
but too much terrible KLOK-1170-San Jose CA splatter, once again. I can
phase it out, but there goes the 1179 signal too. This has been a real
toughie to log. Ruai Mai in NZ runs 1 KW and it heard often, but the
Cumbia mx really splatters a lot from KLOK. (PM-OR)
1206 AUSTRALIA, Grafton or Canberra with man talking about New South
Wales at 1303 11/3 (PM-OR)
1386 NEW ZEALAND, Auckland 1XOR Radio Tarana, presume the source of
the Ethnic type music and female ancr. I was amazed they came so strong
for a while, at 0715 11/3, holding its own in the 6 khz filter between
1380-1390. Unneeded, but I have not heard this for sometime. Later on it
was only a het. (PM-OR)
1500 HAWAII, Honolulu, KUMU, very good with Adults Standards and
"Koo-Moo" ID at 0655 11/3 (PM-OR)
1503 UNID, DU here with talk in splatter at 0816 11/3, maybe Radio
Sport-NZ. (PM-OR)
1593 NEW ZEALAND, Auckland, 1XCB, maybe the strong signal briefly
with unid Asian lang 0716 11/3, came up the same time 1386 did, but not
as good. Woman ancr in Unid lang, some mx in the 1590-1600 splatter
briefly. (PM-OR)
