[HCDX] Logs from NH-USA, week ending August 21



4010, KYRGYZSTAN, Kyrgyz Radio (presumed), 2255-2333,
August 20, Kyrgyz?/Russian, Test tones at t/in,
presumed IS at 2300 of light instrumental music
followed by choral-like music (NA?). YL at 2303 until
music at 2308. Program intro at 2310 followed by
continuous classical/opera-like vocal music w/ OM
briefly at 2326. Still going at t/out. Very poor/weak,
poking through relentless static crashes, though
signal did improve a bit from s/on, peaking around

4915, GHANA, R.Ghana, 2303-2324, August 14, English,
OM in EG w/ listener request program, several local
TC's, promo for GBC FM outlet, "..information and
education on 95.7 FM, making a difference".Booming
signal until 2319 when a Brazilian station suddenly

August 20, Hindi, IS, OM w/ ID, choral-like music, OM
w/ tlks and music. Weak but readable. (Barbour-NH)

7270, INDIA, AIR Chennai, 0056-0101, August 20, Hindi,
Music followed by brief talks (ID?) at 0100 then right
back to music, USB chatter takes over at 0101. Poor

7290, INDIA, AIR Thiruvananthapuram, *0129, August 15,
Hindi, Distinct IS followed by very weak talks and
music. Quickly unusable. Early sign-on for Red Fort
Independence Day coverage.(Barbour-NH)

15040, INDIA, AIR Bangalore, *0132-0209, August 15,
English/Hindi, IS, ID w/ mention of special coverage
of flag raising ceremony. OM and YL w/ running
commentary of ceremony at Red Fort, arrival of Prime
Minister, falg raising, P.M. address' the nation at
0202 continuing thru t/out. Fair w/ "muddy" audio,

11935, KUWAIT, VOA relay, 2312-2323, August 18,
English, Report re Taiwan and China, protester/police
plans and GOP convention in NYC, ID at 2321 followed
by Olympic news. Poor/fair. (Barbour-NH)

Tamil/Sinhala, Listed service to Sri Lanka with OM in
Tamil at t/in, brief silence at 0045 then Sinhala
service w/ ID, light vocal music and talks. //
11740-Panaji. Both fair w/ transmitter hum.

English, Roy Orbison's "Pretty Woman" at t/in, other
assorted oldies, pops and country music w/ OM between
selections acknowledging requests; listeners by name
and birthday greetings. "All Asia Service" ID, in
passing, at 0124. Starting to fade around 0120 while
// 9770 going strong until wiped out by 9775-VOA at
0130 re-check. (Barbour-NH)

17880, PAKISTAN, R.Pakistan, 0128-0143, August 20,
Urdu, Listed Urdu WS with vocal music at t/in, OM w/
weak audio followed by report/commentary by diff. OM
w/ stronger audio. Studio announcer again at 0141
followed by "live" report. Poor/fair w/ varying static
levels. // 15485 barely audible under terrible static.
