Trans-Atlantic DX

585 SPAIN, Madrid DEC 4 2312 UTC - Man and woman talking and laughing and trying to calm theirselves as suggested by the word "bueno" which maked the laughing stop. Extremely poor with some splash from 580 and 590 and did not get much better than this. (Chiochiu-QC)

1134 CROATIA, Zadar DEC 5 0005 UTC - Newscast in and out, good and 100% arm-chair copy on peaks if I understood Croatian (sounded exactly like Russian). At 0019 very shortly after the woman started to talk with weather (heard mention of "temperatura"); improved rapidly, hit good when the woman mentioned "Natsiónál" and "Radio Nátsiónáal" followed by rythmic pop female vocal with jazz influences in the female's voice. When WBBR-1130 was almost completely nullable, splash was almost inexistent because WDFN Detroit, also on 1130, was pretty weak. Noted at other times in and out (i.e.: at 0244 heterodyne when tuned in the higher part of the then unnulable WBBR frequency and audio with WBBR overspills when I tuned right on 1134). A big thanks to PhilcoBil in MD for the tip. (Chiochiu-QC)

Pan-American DX

530 TURKS AND CAICOS, Radio Visión Cristiana Internacional, South Caicos DEC 5 0221 UTC - Man preaching noted in passing at a good level, pretty weak remains of nulled CIAO. (Chiochiu-QC)

555 ST. KITTS, ZIZ, Basseterre DEC 5 0213 UTC - Nice reagge tune (a proof they don't always play crap music), but at poor level with a SW instable cross-modulation signal right on 555 from a neighbor ham operator, so I had slightly to de-tune for best results. Caribbean and Latins not really good last night. (Chiochiu-QC)

670 CUBA, Radio Rebelde, Arroyo Arrenas DEC 5 0209 UTC - w/ folk-pop male tune. Pretty poor, some residual WSCR Chicago in and out. (Chiochiu-QC)

Domestic DX

540 WLIE Islip, NY DEC 4 2100 EST - Haititan programming, top-of-the-hour ID. The Haitian programming was presented by a male DJ in French Creole with Haitian ragga and other music as well. (Chiochiu-QC)

1030 KTWO, WY DEC 4 1807 EST - Tentative ! Man talking very fast at this time, slightly under poor-strenght nulled as much as possible WBZ-1030 and some relatively minor local splash from CJMS-1040. I recorded it, so we'll see if I really heard that one for a new station and a new state. Thanks to PhilcoBil in MD for a tip on this one ! (Chiochiu-QC)

1320 CKEC, New Glasgow, NS DEC 4 1734 EST - Faded up huge way over CJMR Mississauga "pest" for almost 20 minutes with two mid-tempo soft-rock tunes, weather forecast and IDs including a legal ID at 1748 ending in "...New Glasgow, Nova Scotia". They were local-like, stronger than the Haitian local on 1610. This is probably why I heard Croatia-1134 for the first time and also why they were good at times. (Chiochiu-QC)

Was very happy to pick up Croatia and also was glad to receive CKEC from northern Nova Scotia on 1320 at a local-like level. I think that the TA propagation on the higher channels was much better than the lower channels which may explain my extremely ugly reception of Spain-585. If I tried even more, I could had perphaps re-logged and taped France-1494.

Be the good DX stuff with you !
