[HCDX] Spaceman, Uganda (on all night), Cupido, Cultura de Sao Paulo, Altura

PIRATE (EUROPE) 3927 R. Spaceman 2302- DJ Spaceman in GM over pleasant
German song at t/in w/ment of "...Spaceman number..." and cont.
anmnt. 2303 into slow German Polka and more voice-over anmnts at beginning
w/ment of Spaceman. Song cut off and then an oldie instru. "Keep Yourself
Alive" by Queen 2308-2311, and signal off at the end of the song at exactly
2311:56*. Pretty decent signal but a tremendous amount of thunderstorm
static QRN. Some slight Ham QRM on nearby channels. Signal nearly
non-existent on the Windom, but decent on the T2FD. (Valko 1 Oct.)

UGANDA 4975.97 R.U./UBC 2314-0247, For some reason, this was still on,
obviously all night. M at t/in w/ment of Kampala. Pgmming all Hi-life and
Hi-life Pops, and one or two remakes of Top 40 songs. Live M anncr host in
EG and local language after nearly every song. Played a canned simple "UBC
Radio" ID by M during songs. 2319 live M w/"...This is UBC ?? Uganda, ??
Kampala and the western...This is the '?? Show' on UBC. ?? the Reverend ??
South Africa". Nice ID at 2331. Anmnt at 2359 but nothing special over
ToH. 0007 ment of " ?? UBC R., you can ....This is the Saturday
Night....shortwave. The #1 sound, the #1 in Uganda, and the #1 ??". Cont.
w/more of the same. 0218 M w/anmnt including "...Radio UBC, Radio
Uganda...". Took a phone call at 0220. Sounded like an EG anmnt at
0221. Great ID at 0223 "...listening to Radio UBC, your number one in
Kampala Uganda...". Fair signal w/some slight QRM from presumed Brazil
below. Fading pretty badly by 0230, probably more from the propagation
conditions than morning at the xmtr site. Last heard at 0247 when the MD
ran out. (Valko 30 Sept.-1 Oct.)

PIRATE (EUROPE) 6289.91 Cupido R. 2341- Operator Rinus put the xmtr on
the air while chatting with George Maroti and myself on MSN
Messenger. Found mx poking through from time to time. Almost at
readability threshold. 2353 and 2355 brief peaks sounded like Rock
mx. Some pulsing UTE QRM here as usual, and TVI. (Valko 30 Sept.)

BRAZIL 9615 R. Cultura de Sao Paulo OC noted as early as 0641, so
must've just left the xmtr on all night. Finally on at *0751:18 w/two ZY
contemporary songs, then full canned ID anmnt by M w/calls, 3 freqs, and
addr at 0757. 0758-0801 instru. NA, Rooster, and M w/ID and pgm
intro. Good clear signal but had faded by s/on. (Valko 1 Oct.)

PERU 5014.48v R. Altura 1046-1103, Many ads at t/in. Campesino
mx. "El Condor Pasa" at 1100, then live M anncr shouting "Altura" and
tlk. Freq was repeatedly drifting quickly up to 5014.7 then suddenly
jumping back down to 5014.48. Fading. (Valko 1 Oct.)

73 Dave
