[HCDX] Bulgarian Regulator Strips BBC from Broadcast License

Bulgaria's media watchdog intends to strip BBC from
its broadcasting license in Sofia.

In the words of Raycho Raykov, chairman of the Council
for Electronic Media (CEM), the move is prompted as
the British media has stopped broadcasting in
Bulgarian language - a key prerequisite for the
license.

He told the state radio BNR that the license will be
revoked and granted to a Bulgaria media.

In end-December 2005 BBC decided to close the
Bulgarian section of BBC, among others, to redirect
funds for the establishment of an Arab-language
station.

BBC closed also its sections in Greek, Polish,
Slovakian, Slovenian, Hungarian, Croatian and Czech,
as well as in Kazakh and Tai languages.
