*BBG still planning major VOA language service cuts, including  
 English, from October, AFGE Local 1812 charges
*RFE/RL websites hit with major cyber attack; Belarus blamed for 
 starting DOS
*Special assistant to President Bush resigns when Center for a Free 
 Cuba discovered he was skimming funds meant to get SW radios into 
 Cuba
*Habana relay of Venezuela, 17705, caught transmitting spy numbers
*AeroMartí contract to be renewed with Phoenix Air Group, Inc (PAG) 
 Cartersville, GA
*XEYU, Radio UNAM, reactivated 9599.3 after two sesquiweeks, still 
 overidden by Vatican in Vietnamese at 2315, and even more so when 
 Cuba is on 9600 [but UNAM gone again May 1]
*XEXQ, 6045, heard as early as 1205 UT
*XERTA, 4800, and Radio Buenas Nuevas, Guatemala, 4799.77 produce a 
 het around 1230 UT
*ELCOR transmitter test in Costa Rica on 5954.113, heard again at 
 earlier hour 2100-2156; also with spurs around 5930 and 5975 [but 
 then gone again]
*Cidade Oldies, pirate in SE Brasil on 7695, now said to operate 
 Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 0300
*In WWII, BBC fooled German homing bombers by rebroadcasting Ireland 
 567 from Aberdeen
*BBC Mundo Radio via WHRI, 12-13 UT on 9410 contains news, archived 
 call-in show Estudio Abierto, Efemérides, and music fill: classical 
 on M/W/F, top 10 pop countdown on Tue/Thu
*R. Nederland to resume Arabic on SW this fall; already has website
*DW moving toward eliminating German on SW in favor of internet
*IRRS, pretending to broadcast from Milan, but really from Slovakia, 
 starts new broadcast May 5, Mon-Thu 0430-0530 on 5990; what is it?
*Hungary cuts back to only 4 hours a day on SW, 3975 and 6025
*Croatia via Germany using both 7285 and 9925 between 2300 and 0500 to 
 Americas, but 7285 is temporary only until May 10
*Thanks for financial support from Will Martin in St. Louis, who sent 
 a check in the mail to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702
*Spain and Vatican are colliding on 11625, M-F 2000, both in English 
 to Africa; Spain`s other frequency 9665 heard on 9690 instead
*Spain`s ``co-official languages`` segment, M-F 1245-1300 has Galician 
 OK at 1245, but Basque at 1250 is mostly in Castilian, and Catalan at 
 1255 missing; via Costa Rica 15170
*US relays no more via Briech, Morocco, but RTM still uses the site. 
 15335 was missing, then came back; also scheduled on 11920 and 7135
*Africa No. One, Gabon, 9580, heard once with Qaddafi interpreting
 Qur`an, translated to English at 2315-2415; since Libya has 
 controlling interest in ANO, surprising they don`t use it more
*Africa No. One, recommended music shows, M-F: Kilimandjaro at 17-18 
 on 15475; Africasong at 19-21 on 9580; Flash Black at 21-23 on 9580
*Voice of Nigeria testing webcasting via  
 http://www.voiceofnigeria.org/voiceOfNigeria.html but mostly silent; 
 one time we heard awful noises, unidentifiable language
*Channel Africa`s A-08 English schedule from South Africa, as amended
*Very confusing situation between Eritrea and Ethiopia, jamming and  
 counterprogramming on 5100, 7175, 7220, 7999.4; see recent DXLDs
*Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in Amharic Mondays 1600-1700 on 
 17875 via Samara, Russia, also Mondays 1900-2000 on 17690 via WHRA
*IRIN, via South Africa in Somali at 1730-1745 moved from 9665 to 9735 
 to avoid Spain`s imaginary Germany broadcast
*Sudan Radio Service, 1500-1600 via Portugal 17690 in English and 
 Arabic
*Southern Sudan Interactive Radio Instruction, 1300-1330 M/W/F via 
 South Africa on 15325 with English lessons 
*V. of Islamic Republic of Iran relay via Lithuania, English at 1930 
 replacing 7260 with 6000
*Voice of Tajik, obscure English service at 1700-1800 on 7245, heard 
 in UK
*Myanmar finally fixed its off-frequency to 5985, and also heard on 
 new 5915, 5815
*Clandestines or religious for North Korea heard in Japan: VOF, Voice 
 of Free Radio at 1100-1130 via Armenia on 15755; CMI Voice of 
 Wilderness at 1300-1400 via Armenia on 15710 [but just changed to 
 11570], Irkutsk on 11640
*Kang Guru Radio English on RRI, 9680, rescheduled to Wed & Fri at 
 0800-0820, not good for California
*CBC Radio One rates number one in Calgary
*WTAM, 1100, Cleveland, has a talk host from France, UT Sundays 0105-
 0400; should reach Enid
