Subject: day #2 for the public broadcaster

The aftermath
of the dark side of the greek public broadcasting

First the transmitters logged on 12/6

The following frequencies were with local program :
1278, 1404, 1008. and on afternoon (after 17) 1512 which on 20 UTC
was // 1008

The following freqs were with only carrier
666 729 981 and 1179

IN Thessaloniki the frequencies of ERA were unmodulated in the
morning but on local afternoon they were
vacant :
88 /90 /92 /93.8 / 95.8 / 102 MHz. Also 93.6 which was dominated by a
Serbian station !

During my
monitoring on 88 (1630 UTC ) I found E-propagation with Arabic station

902 TV (the voice of the Communist party)
carried nearly all the day the transmissions of NET for all Greece, via
its digital stream. IN the evening the signal was from webstream, full of
timeouts but on local nights the signal was quite clear as NET used one
freq for analog signal and on 52 (after 18??) with digital signal There
was a transmission fail for ca 1 hour on 2030 to 2130 with a color bar
test card. As it is noticed today the program was transmitted with he help
of a van from EBU

NET was also transmited via internet via these
sites : zougla.gr enikos.gr cybc.cy alterpress.gr and targetradio.gr and
for Europe via EBU Via satellite
only the signal from the parliament was available

The program was consisted mainly with discussions with members fom various
political parties . Outside the building of the public broadcaster
thousands of people were demonstrated against the decree from the
government and later a musical has been held

A video has been aired on how the staff from the transmission facilities
in Hortiatis has been outed with About 20 policemen entering the farm and
the small house !!

Another video shown demonstrations from Tripoli. ca 250 or more people
were outside the building of the public broadcaster. More than 7 stations
on the regions of Peloponisos relay the local program of ERA Tripoli They
will help them also technically in case any new obstacles from government
occu

The EBU is providing a feed of ERT TV from its web site:
http://www3.ebu.ch/cms/en/sites/ebu/contents/news/2013/06/monitor-ert-online.html

From the above page there is also a link to ERA radio

These are presumably unofficial broadcasts being run by staff and
facilitated by the EBU.

The Greek government is reportedly in the process of setting up a new state
broadcaster which presumably will appear at www.ert.gr in due course.

Subject: [dxld] Re: ERT shutdown by new Greek junta

Sorry, but this is pure political hyperbole. The ERT
shutdown/reorganization is a result of one reason, and one reason only:
Gross financial mismanagement by successive Greek governments involving many
different political parties. This has led to a bloated, expensive and
inefficient broadcasting structure. The government has to make cuts if it
still wants bailout money. If the bailout money is cut off, how will you
pay for ERT?

Too many radio listeners tend to forget that the programming they want and
enjoy has to be paid for somehow. Very ironic that other European countries
that have cut their own public broadcasting (including SW) are sending money
to Greece to keep ERT afloat.

One other thing: The "New Greek Junta" was voted in by the Greek people in a
political process spelled out in the Greek constitution. This is not "The
Generals" of 40 years ago.

All ERT web sites were shut down by the government last week along with all
the ERT TV and radio boadcasts. Legally ERT does not exist anymore.

No luck here as well. But this http://www.ert.gr/ [http://www.ert.gr/]
tells that it is under construction.
A new ERT under construction?
