[HCDX] 31 Oct. - 3 Nov. Loggings

For the first time, I decided to record the NA Pirate band with the Perseus for a few hours on Halloween.  Here is the list of what was heard.  Links to MP3 recordings can be found at the end.

BRAZIL   Checked the R. Rio Mar webstream at 1004 and did have a W preaching w/roomy sound, then M took over for a few min. followed by live rel. mx w/M vcl and guitar.  They have the same pgm every morning at 1000.  So maybe the W begins the pgm and that is what I had yesterday on 6160.06.  Incidentally, still wasn't on today by 1013.  (1 Nov.)

COLOMBIA   6010.17   LV tu Conciencia   While playing with HDSDR, this suddenly jumped down from up around 6010.2 down below 6009.9 about 1058.  Good signal.  Was playing pleasant LA mx then went into the HJ choral NA.  (1 Nov.)

DJIBOUTI   4780   R. Djibouti   2347 M chanting, no doubt on all night again.  Severe QRM from 4781.7 R. Oriental.  (1 Nov.)

BRAZIL   4845   R. Ondas Tropicais (pres.)   2348 excited M anncr in PT. ZY Pops at 2356 recheck.  Then WWCR blasted'em out at 2358:38.  Weak.  (1 Nov.)

TURKEY   6060.06   V.O. Turkey   Caught this in EG at 1937 w/nx by alternating M and W.  Nonstop mx 1958-2019, then ID and EG nx headlines, and W w/sked, Turkish mx and off at 2022:28.  6050 was in the clear after Turkey went off and caught an anmnt by W starting w/"Good evening...".  It must have been Turkey with a dif. xmsn/beam as there was Turkish mx just before 2030, then time ticks, followed by W anncr.  Another signal on 6050.015 came on briefly at 2023, then on for good abt a min. later.  Suspect 6050.015 is CNR from Tibet due to the fact it came on the air briefly, which CNR has been known to do.  But it seems early for Chinese.  (2 Nov.)

SWAZILAND   6120   TWR Swaziland   1955-1959 rel. tlk by M in Afro vern., then rel. choral mx, and M w/pgm closing anmnt at 2003 w/contact info in Luanda Angola, then TWR IS at 2005.  Audible even as early as 1939.  (2 Nov.)

ETHIOPIA   5950   V.O. Tigray Rev. (pres.)   Tlk by 2 men in local vern. at 1943.  HoA vcl mx at 1949 until 1958:50 KBS World via France signal came on.  Surprised so many signals audible in 49m this early.  (2 Nov.)

PIRATE (EUROPE)   6305.3   R. Norton   Found the signal here at 2252 but it was too weak and on the edge of a UTE.  (2 Nov.)

PIRATE (EUROPE)   6260.024   Area 51   OC at 2246, then mx start at 2250 w/more current Pop song.  "Close Encounters" theme as IS at 2254-2256.  2256 spooky instru. mx and moaning.  2257:35 short anmnt.  Not much audio until it started coming up at 2322.  2325 short anmnt but weaker than the mx.  2325-2329 Bluesy moody song. 2330-2332 song w/heavy drum beat, then canned anmnt by M w/altered voice and ment of mx.  2337 another brief canned anmnt in same type voice.  2343-2346 really fast song.  2346 M anncr jingle.  2356 jingle between songs again sounding like an e-mail address ".dot com".  SSTV to end the xmsn at 2359-0001.  Drifted up to 6260.05.  2356 getting QRM from The Voice Asia OC as the signal was getting better.  (2 Nov.)

PIRATE (EUROPE)   6450.23v   R. Readymix   2300 Hard Rock mx. Short anmnt at 2310 w/poss. ment of freq.  2320 another canned-sounding anmnt but imposs. to copy.  2333 another anmnt between songs but still no chance.  Just when it started to improve, he went off at 2350:34.  Drifting down from 6450.36 when I tuned in to 6450.17 by 2323.  (2 Nov.)

PIRATE (EUROPE)   6289.97   R. Borderhunter   2310 found here w/"Another Brick in the Wall" by Pink Floyd.  2328 song anmnt, "...You're listening to the Borderhunter..." and e-mail.  2338 song anmnt, ID, and 6290 freq, then into "Don't Bring Me Down" by ELO.  2351 better w/ID and e-mail.  (2 Nov.)

SRI LANKA   11905   SLBC   On a quick check of this at 0143, they were playing that "Welcome to Sri Lanka" song again!!  The signal was not as good as it has been and it was choppy.  (3 Nov.)

CLANDESTINE   9960   Khmer Post R. (via Palau)   1259 caught closing anmnt w/guitar instru. and W anncr voice-over w/ments of Kampuchea, kilohertz, and the website URL given.  Best ever heard and clear reception.  Too bad I only caught the last minute.  (3 Nov.)
