GERMANY 6095 The Mighty KBC 1000 ad over ToH but could only copy it in between words from 6090. 1014 in the clear w/Pop mx, but was fading. 1017-1025 long tlk over mx by M in DT w/many ments of "info". Back to mx then. Still in at 1043 w/Pop mx. Went off at 1100. (26 Nov.)
BULGARIA 11610 R. Shorouq (via Bulgaria) apparently Mistakenly thought this was coming on at 1700. Just caught the end of OC at gone at 1656:16. Signal seemed strong enough for an ID. I'll have to wait until Mon. for the next xmsn. (27 Nov.)
UZBEKISTAN 7470 Open R. for North Korea (via Tashkent) 2055 heard the same whistling melody and presumed closing anmnts by W in KR. Weak. It might actually be half decent on a good Asian day. (27 Nov.)
SOUTH KOREA 6250 Echo of Hope 2057 surprised to find a good signal w/tlk by M in KR // to much weaker and UTE QRMed 6348. 2058 pgm outro by M and W over mx, then 2059 brief Gregorian chant-like choral singing and canned anmnt. 2100 fanfare and anmnt by M. 6600 and 6518 V.O. the People also coming in weakly and seemed unjammed, but was jammed at 2102 check. (27 Nov.)
NIGERIA 6089.85 R. Nigeria, Kaduna 2103 poss. nx by M w/many sound bites of M tlking including a ment of Kaduna at 2104.50 and Nigeria at 2110 and three very clear "R. Nigeria, Kaduna" IDs in 30 second from 2110:25 to 2110:55. Fairly strong and readable. Glad to finally ID this. (27 Nov.)
NIGERIA 9689.89 V.O. Nigeria 2113 M anncr w/apparent end of the nx in Hausa, then usual native wind instru., and same M cont. w/feature including ments of Washington, Libya, Benghazi, and United States. 2118 end of press feature, native instru. again, then another feature w/ment of Addis Abbaba and Jeda, and R. Nigeria. Good. Off-freq as always. (27 Nov.)
BELARUS 6150.76 R. Belarus (spur) Playing what sounds like a Pop song at 2158. 2200 possibly 1 tone, then a fanfare and M anncr, mx bridge and M returned. 2203 W anncr noted too. Still going at 2221 w/pleasant mx. Mx at 2231 recheck. Still no better by 2245. Weak but definitely here. Not there at 2347 check. Upon rechecking the recording, found the other spur on 6159.25 w/severe QRM from CKZN. Thought for a while it might be R. Taiwan Int. Thanks Wolfgang Bueschel. (27 Nov.)
INDONESIA 9680.05 RRI Jakarta 2217 Koran at their sunrise, then back to W anncr at 2219. (27 Nov.)
CHINA 4850 Xinjiang PBS 2354 Pop-like Blues song, then W anncr at 2355, a couple canned anmnts, then W returned at 2357. Lang. sounded like RS, no doubt Kazakh. More Bluesy mx from 2358-0002. 0000 5+1 time ticks while the song cont. 0002 canned W anmnt over mx. (27 Nov.)
UZBEKISTAN 6260 CVC/The Voice Asia 0004 beautiful Hindi mx. Usual rapid-paced W and M anncrs in Hindi. "God bless" and one point. Played a block of canned promos, then a diff. M anncr taking phone caller wishing her a "good morning". Took another call, then another song, and M again w/another call. Good signal and as good as abt 2 mo. ago when it was best ever. Incredibly even stronger at 0227 check peaking over S9. 0230 long canned Hindi anmnt by M over mx w/"The Voice" ID. 0233:15 whispered ID during anmnts. 0234:10 nice EG ID jingle. (28 Nov.)
TAJIKISTAN 4765 Tajik R. 0035 Arabic-sounding flute and vcl song. 0037 brief Arabic-like string mx and W anncer then back to mx w/heavy percussion at 0039. 0043 again played the Arabic-like string mx signature briefly and W studio anncr returned, and more Arabic mx. Arabic mx right to 0100, then fanfare, brief anmnt by W and M anncrs, and choral anthem to 0102. Noticeably better on the Wellbrook. (28 Nov.)
INDIA 4800 AIR Hyderabad Overtop CNR at 0100 w/subcont. mx. (28 Nov.)
INDIA 7270 AIR Chennai 0111 nice clear signal w/lively subcont. mx, 0114 mx faded and M anncr w/pgm closing in apparent Sinhalese, then pleasant subcont. instru. mx w/chimes added, and off. Best ever on this freq. (28 Nov.)
IRAN 6100 V.O. Islamic Rep. of Iran End of Bangla pgm w/M giving mailing addr at 0119 as "...Bangla Program, Radio Tehran, Post Box number 6767, Tehran 19295, Islamic Rep. of Iran...." and another diff. P.O. Box. Fair w/adjacent QRM. (28 Nov.)
TAJIKISTAN 7245 V.O. Tajikistan 0157 OC. 0158:37 audio on w/instru. mx flute prominent. 0200 four time ticks mixed w/the instru. mx. 0200:28 start of bombastic choral NA to 0202:15. Then fanfare w/pres. ID anmnt by alternating M and W in Tajik, and echo anmnt by M over mx. Lively instru. mx and voice-over tlk by W to 0204. Arabic style mx 0205-0210. 0210 mx bridge and W returned. 0211 some sort of short jingle or intro w/dramatic mx and M saying "Watch Out", then same W returned past 0213. Best ever here but already fading by t/out. Unfortunately there was awful Ham QRM right on the freq over ToH, and adjacent QRM from China on 7250 to 0200. (28 Nov.)
ETHIOPIA 6110 R. Fana 0257 usual pleasant IS melody warbbly as if there was a tape machine motor problem. Nice canned ID by W, then Jazz mx and another canned ID by M. Only fair signal. (28 Nov.)
ZANZIBAR 6015 ZBC 0259 lively Afro mx to 0300 usual slow time ticks and ID by W w/ment of Zanzibar, then M w/intro for the Koran at 0301 and said Koran. Fairly strong but horrible adjacent QRM from 6020. A little clearer after 0300 when 6020 was in tlk. (28 Nov.)
ZAMBIA 5915 ZNBC Very low modulation, unreadable from 0300, but much better at 0324 w/soft mx and M voice-over tlk 0325 w/muffled audio and ment of Zambia. 0330 ad by W, then promo, and live M anncr starting w/"Zambia...". Took a phone caller at 0333. Better signal with the Delta Loop. (28 Nov.)
ZIMBABWE 6045 Zimbabwe BC Beautiful Afro High-life mx at 0337 recording start, and live studio W anncr at 0339. 0340 canned tlk by M. 0355 choral NA. 0359 drum IS, 0400 W anncr but fading. (28 Nov.)
YEMEN 6135 Rep. of Yemen R. (pres.) After BBC went off at 0459, noted M anncr mixed w/fanfare. Then another big fanfare mixed w/deep-voiced M anncr at 0500-0501 but imposs. to copy, and barely audible M w/poss. nx ending w/fanfare at 0513. Mx at 0515 but modulation so low I couldn't tell what type. Fading then and finally blasted out by BBC return at 0529. (28 Nov.)
SOUTH KOREA 6015 KBS Hanminjok Bangsong Signal already starting to show up in the display at 0610. 0646 suddenly went off for a few seconds, then came back on stronger, and audio started abt 10 seconds after that in the middle of tlk by 2 women, and the jamming started at 0651:39. Surprised this would be coming in so early. Jamming went off at 0912:54 and was very nice then. (28 Nov.)
CHINA 6060 Sichuan PBS 1200 incredible strength w/usual canned IDs including the EG one. (28 Nov.)
SOMALIA 7120 R. Hargeisa 1301 instru. HoA theme mx, then M anncr, but just too weak. Came back at 1350 and hrd funky HoA Pop mx, better than 45 min. earlier. Gone at 1404 recheck. Nice to hear this in the morning again. (28 Nov.)
UZBEKISTAN 7590 North Korea Reform R. (via Tashkent) 1400 opening by W, fanfare trumpet bridge, W again, then into tlk by M sounding like KR, and peppy instru. mx, then feature by M. Weak signal. (28 Nov.)
AUSTRALIA 5995 R. Australia 1500 usual Fanfare and ID/nx by W anncr. Was good at 1435 but fading quickly at this time. 5950 New Zealand there but no audio. 5940 R. Australia just able to hear the fanfare at ToH. Barely getting audio on this freq by 1530. (28 Nov.)
IRAN 5940 V.O. Islamic Rep. of Iran Signal coming up suddenly at 1619, but it was sked to already be on. So don't know if it was change in heading or just propagation. Bits of mx at 1643. W anncr at 1653. Didn't really improve after that and went off at 1719:52. (28 Nov.)
AUSTRIA 5955 V.O. Vietnam (via Austria) 1800 usual s/on routine w/peppy instru. mx and opening ID anmnt by W in EG. Into nx by M. Poor but there. Fairly good by 1840 in VT then. (28 Nov.)
ZANZIBAR 11735 ZBC 1805 EG world nx best hrd yet. M anncr. Excluding the heavy accent, it was probably 90% readable!! Unfortunately I wasn't on the freq at 1800. 1810 "..And that is the end of the news from Zanzibar Broadcasting Corporation". Immediately into W w/Swahili nx. Fairly good. (28 Nov.)
RWANDA 6055 R. Rwanda Two stns here at 1840, at least one in FR. No doubt CRI Albania and R. Rwanda. Finally Rwanda taking over by 1855 w/tlk by M anncr leading up to 1900. Some sort of Afro mx briefly at ToH mixed w/M w/R. Rwanda ID and tlk w/many ments of Rwanda following. Just caught the end of an EG anmnt at 2055, Pop mx, then closing anmnt at 2059 w/ment of "...for your company. We continue tomorrow at ?? 7 AM...104.7 FM. Thank you...studio manager...I thank you all for your company. Remember we need you all for the...and if you can't, use a condom. Bye bye until then ??". Seems the DJs calling card is his suggestion to use a condom!! The EG is difficult to copy because of the DJs heavy accent. (28 Nov.)
NIGERIA 7254.94 V.O. Nigeria Nice TC and ID by W at then end of the EG nx at 1910. Into the next feature. Annoying Ham QRM from just below on 7253 and someone else testing their audio right on the freq. (28 Nov.)
INDIA 6155 AIR Bengaluru Incredible level at 1913 w/beautiful subcont. vcl mx. M anncr briefly in Urdu between songs at 1917. More lengthy tlk by same M at 1920, then back to mx. Suddenly off at 1928:44 in mid-song. Another stn was heard after, obviously Belarus. (28 Nov.)
ETHIOPIA 5950 V.O the Tigray Rev. 1931 w/HoA mx. M anncr at 1934, then Pop-like mx, followed by M anncr tlking w/phone-in report by another M and W. More HoA mx at 1957 check, then M anncr. Some splash QRM from 5955 V.O. Vietnam (Austria). In the clear finally at 1959 when Vietnam went off, but then KBS via France came on the freq. (28 Nov.)
IRAN 6040 V.O. the Islamic Rep. of Iran 1939 EG nx read by M. 1941 "interview on current affairs". Fair. (28 Nov.)
UK 7235 IBRA R. (via Woofferton) 1944 end of mx and ID jingle, then canned anmnt by W in vern. over mx, then Afro choral singing. Good signal. (28 Nov.)
UZBEKISTAN 6260 CVC/The Voice Asia (via Tashkent) 1947 tlk by W but not strong enough to confirm it was Hindi. 1955 mx on recheck. Went off at 2000:40 per sked. Never did get any better from t/in. Never hrd it here before. (28 Nov.)
INDONESIA 9525.89 V.O. Indonesia M in what sounded like EG at 1949 but audio a bit muffled. Into Pop mx. Nice canned ID and website URL by W at 1954:30, then another Pop song. A little better signal at this time than at 1000. (28 Nov.)
KUWAIT 6050 R. Kuwait Mixing about equally with Turkey at 2055, so it was hard to tell who was who. 2057 W in AR briefly, then M over AR mx and cont. mx to 2100. 5+1 time ticks, then deep-voiced M w/ID ending w/ment of Kuwait, fanfare sounding like a NA but not the beginning of the Kuwaiti NA. Then deep-voiced M again w/pres. nx. Makes for a mess on this freq. (28 Nov.)
NIGERIA 6089.85 R. Nigeria, Kaduna Audio up to good level just before 2100, then ID by M in low level, distorted drum IS, and diff. M anncr w/apparent nx. Pretty strong signal. (28 Nov.)
TAIWAN 7540 Suab Xaa Moo Zoo (via Taiwan) OC already on at 2227. 2230-2232 fanfare and opening voice-over anmnts by M in Hmong. 2232 into soft rel. vcl song by W. Same M returned at 2235-2237, and another soft song w/apparent Hmong vcl. Quick closing at 2259 by the M host, mx briefly and off. Choppy signal and seemed to get stronger to peaking around 2245, then faded a little. (28 Nov.)
USA 9475 WTWW 0000 M w/anmnt saying they were leaving the freq and to tune to 5830, but then continued w/"Pictures for America Worldwide". Still going on 9475 at 0007. Only fair at best. (29 Nov.)
