HAPPY TO BE BACK HOME AND OFF THE GRID!

This week's show features stories from NHK World Radio Japan, Radio Havana Cuba,
the Voice of Russia, Spanish National Radio, and Radio Deutsche-Welle.
>From JAPAN- Egypt's former President Morsi has been formally charged with
conspiring with foreign groups to commit terrorist acts. The Japanese government
is soliciting help in figuring out how to safely remove nuclear fuel debris from
the damaged reactors in Fukushima. Government officials are also trying to find a
site for disposal of highly radioactive waste.
>From CUBA- Russia maintains that foreign backed mercenaries in Syria were behind
the chemical weapon attack in August. The majority of French citizens are now
opposed to their country's expanding military interventions on the African
continent. Edward Snowden published an open letter offering to help the Brazilian
government investigate NSA surveillance. The European Parliament has invited
testimony from Edward Snowden about NSA spying but the some US lawmakers are
scrambling to prevent this. The parliament of Yemen has called for the banning of
US drone strikes just days after the deadliest attack this year on a wedding
party killing 17.
>From RUSSIA- British PM David Cameron made a surprise visit to troops in
Afghanistan and declared "mission accomplished," though not everyone agrees.
>From SPAIN- In response to new anti-protesting laws in Spain, a huge riot broke
out in Madrid last weekend. The Spanish government remains opposed to an upcoming
referendum in Catalonia on independence from the national government. Amazon.com
workers in Germany are on strike for higher wages. Russia has made a deal with
the Ukrainian President to keep the EU from expanding influence in the region,
but many citizens are protesting the move.
>From GERMANY- An update on protests in Ukraine, and Russia has approved an
amnesty that includes the Greenpeace Arctic 30 and Pussy Riot members. There is
concern that Russia has deployed missiles in northeastern Europe. The arrest and
strip search of an Indian diplomat in NYC has created a huge furor. A government
panel in France has recommended the legalization of voluntary euthanasia.

There is an article about the Shortwave Report by Cassandra Roos on line -

I was interviewed for an informative weekly radio show Mediageek, available at
http://radio.mediageek.net

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to
rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the
last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just
want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound
quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet
connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download
the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3
player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your
computer.
NEW TIME SLOT on KZYX! This program will be aired on Sunday afternoon at 4pm
(PST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via < http://www.kzyx.org >

I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am
still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into
this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this
(or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through
the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt! (maybe a little)
