BBC World Service is now available for the first time on FM for listeners
in
Bethlehem, Jerusalem and the West Bank.

New partner station, Radio Bethlehem 2000 on 89.6FM will soon be airing
12
hours a day of BBC programming, in Arabic and English.

The BBC Arabic service has over 13.5 million listeners in the Middle
East
and North Africa.

In addition to short wave and medium wave, the BBC Arabic Service is
already
available on FM in Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Sudan and
UAE.

Head of BBC Africa and Middle East Region Jerry Timmins welcomed the
partnership with Radio Bethlehem 2000: "We are very pleased to have
reached
agreement with Radio Bethlehem 2000.

"On the day that Yasser Arafat died, listeners in Bethlehem and
across the
West Bank area have been able to hear the news unfold from Ramallah to
Paris
and Cairo, live from the BBC.

We continue to be intent on serving our listeners with programming which
is
in the very best traditions of the BBC."
