[IRCA] TP DX today - mind numbingly dull
This morning was a good reminder of why I like to sleep in and let the
radio record the DX for a more convenient time.
This was definitely a really bad morning. Stuff was there, but it was
getting beaten up pretty badly by domestic splatter much more than
normal. The usual powerhouses were weaker than normal and second tier
stations produced no audio. The locals were their normal strength (I
checked), so whatever went wrong with the DX happened before it reached
my house.
Here's what I captured in my notes.
Really good audio, most of it understandable by a native speaker, if
only for a short amount of time
747 Japan, thank to the "short amount of time" loophole
OK audio, some of it understandable by a native speaker, if only for a
short amount of time
594 Japan, but only because of a minute or so of good audio, otherwise
it belonged in the next category down
774 Japan, during infrequent signal peaks
972 KBS, briefly
Marginal audio, could recognize program content, but a native speaker
would not have understood much if any
540 China very faint pips u/CBK 1200
603 Unid
738 Taiwan
828 Japan
891 Thailand
909 Japan?, very faint pips 1300
945 China, during a brief pause in the KJR splatter
981 China
1017 CRI
1170 KBS
1206 Yanbian
1566 HLAZ, maybe a minute of actual audio
1575 VOA
Carriers, a couple of them may have had real or imaginary audio. Some
might have had decent audio if the domestics had beeen quieter. Some
may have even been imaginary carriers for all I know.
