Re: [IRCA] Arizona TP's for 2-16-13; brief Victoria version

My impression also was that conditions were down somewhat, but I didn't DX with quite the same dedication this morning, as Colin Newell was over with his DeBockian FSL and we were running various comparisons using the ICF2010, and with various computers shut down.

Were were able to hear a couple of the big guns well at times (JOUB-774 and HLAZ-1566, though the FSL didn't seem to tune that high), and even a carrier on 639, and quite a good one on 891. The FSL was comparable to the one meter on a side box loop, but a little less responsive to local noise, which I believe were Gary's findings. The FLG100 corner-fed loop into the 2010's antenna jack caused overload, until we hit the DX-local switch, but that combo inhaled the DX somewhat better yet.

We then fired up the computers, hooked up the corner fed to the SDRs, and there might have been a slight sunrise enhancement around 1510UT, when we could hear things like 594, 747, 972, 1278, 1575 which hadn't been there a few minutes before. But I would guess the best signal levels were before 1500UT

best wishes,

Nick

Listened from 1350-1420 utc and conditions were down from yesterday with weak carriers on 594, 693, 774 and 1566.

1566 HLAZ heard at 1407 utc with talk and just above the noise level
