Re: [IRCA] South Pacific DXing Demonstration Video-- 531-PI in Auckland, NZ

Derek:

Wearing one of those camping headlights that straps around your head, I can easily set up a flag antenna in 10 minutes. It helps to have the right places marked on wires and masts and to have lugs at the wire ends rather than trying to fish bare wire into the hole in a binding post. By doing things like that, it's no problem to get an antenna going in the dark.

Can you set up A KAZ in the dark?

I can barley set up a BOG In the dark.

Thanks

On the other hand, the Cliff seems to provide a potent transoceanic propagation boost for smaller antennas, like the 15' x 15' Flag, used by Chuck last week, and my own 15" FSL. For Perseus-SDR DXers, the big question is probably whether the Cliff's potent transoceanic signal boost will enable smaller broadband antennas to outperform large single-loop wire antennas set up at sea level. Chuck's favorable Kiwi results at Rockwork 4 last week should provide some new input in the discussion.
