[IRCA] TP 21 Dec Victoria version
Those nasty K-indices definitely had their way with the ionosphere
this morning. Grand total of three 9kHz audios, and one quite a
northerly path, at least in great circle terms. If 1566 was HLAZ
then that made two northerly paths.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
null set
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
no go either
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:
738 ....well it would, wouldn't it. However, really only heard it
across 1200UT when the recorder was fortunately running, signal
strength indicator didn't point to many other times. Lively pop
music 1158UT, then fading down to man talking after the hour, French
inflection. Presumed Tahiti.
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)
747 JOIB man mumbling 1458UT, 90 seconds later at the top of the
hour, barely a carrier. ID'd by the first few bars of the Japanese
national anthem breaking through at 1540UT
1566 woman talking 1543UT, then some instrumental music; only on
north Flag, so assumed HLAZ
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)
1116
best wishes,
Nick
