[IRCA] TP 3 Feb Victoria version
What is this K-index of 5 of which you speak? Well, it certainly
sat on the band until, oh, about 1506UT, when traces of talk appeared
amid the splash on 1422, then 1566 and 1593 chimed in, and then, and
then...I think it would have been a good morning on the coast, though
not much from most of the big guns. Even at home, some channels had
two stations on them, and others, admittedly with some digging of
parallels, would have been a nice surprise in the fall, let alone
beginning of February. Then at 1530ish, it fell off the cliff.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
1566 HLAZ man in Chinese 1525UT
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
the above, passing through
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:
594 JOAK parallel to 1503 at 1524UT
1503 JOUK unaccompanied flute music, then unaccompanied female vocal,
nice oriental sound //594 1524UT
1593 CNR1 man in Chinese //6125, but slightly offset 1526-7UT, mixing with:
1593 NHK2 man and woman talking //1386
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)
558 music and man talking 1517UT, but also woman talking, Japanese
inflection, likely Korea and Japan mixing?
774 JOUB man and woman talking //1386 1521-2UT
972 woman talking, maybe Korean? 1520UT
1098 man mumbling 1319UT
1242 man talking quickly 1518UT, but someone else there also?
1296 JOTK possible. woman talking 1512UT, sounded like the woman on
594, but getting them to fade up at the same time didn't seem to happen
1314 man talking excitedly, too low level in splash to guess
origin, almost like preaching, so maybe not Japan? 1514UT
1359 CNR1 near imaginary, but man talking, //1593, and not //1386 1526UT
1386 NHK2 man and woman talking //774 1521-2UT
1422 woman and man talking, Japanese inflection? 1523UT
1539 NHK2 man and woman talking //1386 1528UT; maximum power on this
channel is 100 watts, but quite a few of them
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)
1044 1116 1278 1332 1494
best wishes,
Nick
