Washington - Aug 3, 2006 - The FCC adopted a Memorandum Opinion and
Order (MO&O) to reinforce its belief in the benefits of access to
broadband over power lines (BPL), reaffirm its commitment to address
interference issues, and re-emphasize that the Part 15 rule changes
were made to ensure that access BPL operations do not become a source
of interference to licensed radio services. If harmful interference
does occur, the Commission will take appropriate action to remedy the
situation. The decision was adopted in response to several petitions
for reconsideration of the BPL rules established in October 2004.

Not good news for the SWL and amateur community.  SWLs will have to
contact their local utility -- and the FCC -- when interference is
suspected.
