Part 1 aired last week; a very interesting hour on the motivations
regarding Radio Sawa, Radio Farda and Al Jahurra (sp?). Messrs. Tomlinson
and Patitz both sound like they've gone mad. It is amazing how blind they
appear to be when it comes to the cultural context of how an audience would
receive their new programming. They had no regard for the value systems of
their target audiences -- it never seems to dawn on them that truth is a more
important ideal than American culture.
Now that I have that rant out of my system, it's time to mark the calendar
for the second and final part of "Spin till You Win". It will air on Ideas
at 9 PM local time (9:30 PM in Newfoundland) on CBC Radio One this Tuesday,
October 19th. This converts to air times ranging from 0000 to 0400 UTC
Wednesday October 20th, depending on which audio feed you listen to.
"Ideas" is also available on the RCI 1 and RCI 3 satellite feeds, which may
be less likely to hit capacity than the Radio One webcasts.
Ideas airs on RCI 1 at 0200 UTC; RCI 3 at 0600 UTC. The program
is (still!) not archived for on-demand listening.
