New Zealand's consummate bluesman first came to prominence in the mid-70s fronting Street Talk, which released two successful albums and was resident at the Windsor Castle for two years. He went on to form the Hammond Gamble Band and as a solo artist supported Fleetwood Mac, Talking Heads, Bonnie Rait and Joe Cocker. In fact Joe Cocker even covered one of his songs. Humble Hammond continues to do the hard graft touring New Zealand and impressing audiences with his gritty evocative voice and plaintive guitar. He's recently performed at the Edinburgh Festival in the UK and is about to release his fourth solo album.
