[Swprograms] Podding Along - Issue 28

This periodic sporadic e-newsletter of program recommendations accessible by podcast arose from my own use of them while "working outâ, which for me consists of walking quite briskly for five miles at a time. Apart from the originating programâs web site, most programs are made available through any number of other amalgamation sources such as iTunes and TuneIn.

(Sometimes itâs interesting to listen to a program that was broadcast prior to a particular event and then compare how its prognostications and analyses worked out in the end. Here is one such opportunity embedded within this multi-topic program. -ed.)

âBush brothers unite against Donald Trump; North Korea: Bombs and Youth Power; The Great Hillary Divide."
LATE NIGHT LIVE - ABC Radio National
What are President Obama's choices for the Supreme Court since the death of Antonin Scalia? And the Nevada Primary, often neglected, is shaping up to be an important test for Hillary Clinton.
North Korea started 2016 with a nuclear bomb and the launch of a satellite. The United States and its allies believe North Korea needs to be brought under control and tougher economic sanctions have been promised.
But Kim Jong Un's 'tough' actions are not for Western consumption but for a new generation of young Koreans raised in a hyper-nationalist culture.
Hillary Clinton has long been a polarising political figure, but in the lead-up to the US election, progressive women have locked into 'pro' and anti' Hillary camps. The pro-Hillary people argue that Clinton is a ruthless, smart, flexible politician, capable of taking on a hostile Washington. The 'anti' group say that Hillary is part of the problem - and a vote for her is a vote to continue business as usual when it comes to debt, climate change and corporate greed. Two equally impassioned writers weigh in on the Hillary question. (53â)

ââThe Wapping Disputeâ
WITNESS - BBC World Service
In January 1986 newspaper owner Rupert Murdoch took on the print workers' unions in a bitter industrial dispute which would revolutionise the British press. Baroness Dean of Thornton-le-Fylde was head of print workers union SOGAT 82 at the time. (9â)

âWhoâs Afraid of Inequalityâ
THE PHILOSOPHERâS ZONE - ABC Radio National
Inequalityâdeclared President Obamaâis the defining challenge of our time. That might be true, but is it a moral challenge as well? Many think so, and see the egalitarian distribution of economic resources as self-evidently just. But are we missing the point about where the moral principle lies when considering the wealth of the one per cent? Renowned philosopher Harry Frankfurt recently applied his forensic analytic skills to Bullshit. This time round his attention is trained on the 'defining challengeâ. (25â)
