** ANTARCTICA. On May 26 I have sent this inquiry to Adrián Korol of
RAE: ``Todavía esperamos señales en 15476 de LRA36; parece que no
aparezca en 2025. ¿Puede informarnos qué pasa, por qué se demora, o
nunca más? Gracias, Glenn Hauser, World of Radio``
``We are still awaiting signals on 15476 from LRA36; it seems not to
be appearing in 2025. Could you inform us what is happening, why the
delay, or never again? Thanks, Glenn Hauser``
His reply - translation below:
``Hola Glenn.
15476.
Quedo a disposición
73 Adrián``
Hi Glenn. Thanks for your email first of all. Unfortunately, the 15476
USB (Collins HF80) equipment suffered an unrepairable fault in
Antarctica and was returned to the RADIO NACIONAL plant in Pacheco for
repairs. The Armed Forces have also obtained similar equipment, which
was also transported to Pacheco. Pacheco technicians have begun repair
and adjustment work to ensure that at least one of these two devices
is operational for LRA36. Due to weather conditions, transport from
Pacheco to LRA36 is no longer possible until next October. Until then,
we hope to repair the transmitter equipment and conduct test
broadcasts from Pacheco. We will provide updates in the coming
months.
On the other hand, LRA36 continues to broadcast its program Sonidos de
La Antártida on Saturdays, starting this past Saturday the 24th, via
streaming on the RAE website and Radio Nacional. The program, although
streaming, originates from LRA36.
Messages on social media from LRA36, especially on Facebook and
Instagram, requesting the LRA 36's prompt return to shortwave will be
a welcome sign of support to consolidate and prioritize the return to
15476.
I remain at your disposal. 73 Adrián``
Reply on the WOR iog: ``Never saw anything about the big announcement
from 2023 again, so this plan got the chainsaw if it was ever
realistic at all?

And there may be some people who still wonder if they just find no one

** BRAZIL. I hadn`t tried to hear the token English from RNB/RNA
lately, but after someone reported the entire 10 minutes was in
English, not half Spanish, I check again UT Tue May 27 via ``local``
remote in ``Brasila``, where the two signals are not strong at all,
unseem local, 6180 & 11780. At 0150 English introduxion of interview
with the Secretary of Culture, Pará state, leading up to a UN
conference on climate change, November, in Belém. Seems to be a
repeat; 0154 IDs and switch to Spanish saying this is part 4 of that.
Enough, already (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. 1600 kHz, Mon May 26 at 2213 UT, talking about flowers in
the Sonoran desert -- and 2214 outro `National Native News` from
Koahnic Broadcasting, with CPB funding. At daytime this is KUSH
Cushing, a commercial station. NNN is mostly on public radio stations,
and its affiliate list misses KUSH in OK, just the KCCU, KGOU
stations, and KCNP of the Chickasaw.
https://www.nv1.org/stations-affiliates/oklahoma/
It originates at KUNM in Albuquerque, but produced by Koahnic
Broadcast Corporation, which is in Anchorage, Alaska. Quite a variety
of programming, but can`t find a plain old program schedule:
https://www.1600kush.com/onair/native-air-with-hugh-foley
This outdated page does not say when Native Air airs, nor refer to
NNN, but, with linx to each: ``Tribes in the KUSH Listening Area: Sac
and Fox Nation, Pawnee Nation, Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Iowa Tribe of
OK, Osage Nation, Citizen Potawatomi Nation, Cherokee Nation, Absentee
Shawnee, Otoe-Missouria Tribe, Ponca Tribe, Kickapoo Tribe of OK``
At night, KATZ St Louis owns 1600 here, if not KEPN CO, but KUSH, U1
70 watts at night, made it to Terry L Krueger, NW FL: ``1600 OKLAHOMA
KUSH, Cushing 1031 30 APR 2025 Real C&W, Americana, Bluegrass vocals.
Man "You're listening to The Kush, 1600... and 101 point 5 FM,
Cushing, Oklahoma..." Very nice level on occasional peaks. Surprised
to catch an Oklahoman on 1600. First time log`` (Glenn Hauser, Enid,
WOR)
** SPAIN. 15500, 15520, 15390, 17715, Mon May 26 at 2158, all four
RNEs on air, but quick check shows the three 15s are in three
different programs. EiBi shows until 2200 days 135 = MWF, 15390
Arabic, 15500 Sefardi, 15520 Russian - yes, the latter on ME beam
since that`s the closest they can get to Russia! At 2200 they all
merge for SFR English with a preview, 2201 news leading with at least
57 killed in Gaza last night. 2210 something about popular stories,
humorous comix (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 11785, May 26 at 2157, VOT not off the air, JBA IS &
English ID direct. At 2256 I tune in UTwente just in time to hear VG
carrier cut off* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 4840, May 27 at 0615 UT, some really nice banjo music,
probably hymn tunes, S9+30 direct from WWCR; but everything crashes at
0617 when Brother Scare resumes crying out from the grave (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 6000, May 27 at 0620, some unreadable JBA talk and
music, S8 direct = noise level; off at 0631 recheck. Nothing but
RHCuba is listed in Aoki & EiBi; AIR Leh might start at 0630 or 0700
if it were not silent, and not propagable anyway from midday there.
RHC would normally be much stronger but hardly modulated in English or
maybe Spanish by this hour (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 9236.0, May 26 at 2204, open carrier with wideband clix
JBA in noise level every two or three seconds. Another of these things
ending in ---6. What are they? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 13682-13705 approx., May 26 at 2208, OTH radar clickery,
peaking S9 amid, but no broadcasters being blasted; altho EiBi shows
China could be on 13690, tsk2 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
