Glenn Hauser logs June 1-2, 2025

Monday, June 02 2025

** CUBA. 5025, June 2 at 0615, R. Rebelde is off again, but I think
was on earlier circa 0445. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** HAWAII. 10000, June 2 at 0445, WWVH hourly prop info was so long
that the end of it about blackouts was cut off by announcement of next
minute 0446. At least WWVH is propagating, and other Pacificans, NZ
and Vanuatu, not much else (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. 9700 // 11725, June 2 at 0610, RNZP again on two
frequencies, both good unlike anything else on bands, in
near-blackout. And again, this does not match what their own schedule
shows, so which is ``wrong``? Sked, or axual operation?

https://www.rnz.co.nz/international/listen

20:59 - 00:00 17675 Pacific     Daily
00:00 - 05:58 17675 Updated 1 June 2025 Pacific Daily
05:59 - 07:58 11725 Pacific Daily
07:59 - 10:58  9700 + 7425 Pacific Daily
10:59 - 12:58  9700 + 7425 Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, PNG Daily
12:59 - 16:50  7440 Pacific Sun - Fri
12:59 - 16:58  7440 Pacific Sat

The 1650/2059 period is very complex with DRM and DOW variations. And
when they are on two AM frequencies at once, should we assume the
azimuths be different? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. A very vintage QSL from KCRC Enid is illustrated here,
when it was running 100 watts on 1370 before 1390, apparently heard in
NZ, in 1931: https://radiodx.com/?s=kcrc ;
Some info on that card was already outdated, marked out, corrected
(Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9875.005-, Sun June 1 at 2040, VOT English off the back,
S9+20/25 into UTwente, during `The Pulse of Turkish Foreign Policy`,
clearly read fluently and rapidly, but MEGO as to subject. 2047 outro
credit to a Dr. somebody, whose name one could not possibly understand
unless already knowing it, ``goodbye``. 2048 music. 2053
TRTVOTVorld.com promo, music. 2057 `Letterbox`, usual hostess Cemre
says it has been a busy week, people in the office getting sick,
messing up work schedules, but listeners would not notice. Welcomed a
new colleague in English Dept., who had been in some other dept.,
before that English, could not catch name. 1) Mr. Mike Pisz?, Poland,
sent two reports. 2) Jayanta Chakroborty, India, notifies that 03
broadcast 26/5 had no signal on 7275 or 6165 {perhaps like 23/5 was on
accidentalternate 9465 instead; don`t they read WOR/iog reports??}.
But 27/5 & 28/5 they were back. She suggests that high winds in Ankara
26/5 which blew off some roofs might have been the cause. Asks her to
ID a song heard at an exact time and she does. 3) Olek?, near Brest,
Belarus. 4) W Bengal. 5) K. Oitana?, Japan. This and a previous one
addressed their reports to ``Dear Sirs`` -- sexists! Is a 61-year-old
pharmacist, SWL for 49 years. 6) Patrick --, Ireland, heard German. 7)
Chris --, Canada, postal strike not yet? 8) Mario in Zaragoza, Spain,
on a Spanish broadcast. 2105 show ends without a music insert,
outro/intro theme; and tune-out. BUT:

11780, June 1 at 2232, I check UTwente for the next English broadcast
which I don`t need to hear, missing from 11785, but incredibly on
11780.006+ instead! That will clash with Brasil, but S9+10/15 and no
QRM into UTwente. Then I check Maryland SDR, and find VOT buried under
silly ballgame from Brasil. What a mess! TRT had been advised to shift
from 11785 to 11790 in order to avoid adjacent QRM, but instead moved
onto 11780 to make it co-channel QRM! I wonder how long it will take
them to correct that? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2297 monitoring: confirmed Sunday June 1 at
2142 the 2130 on SW Radio, Germany, JBA on 6160.002+ into UTwente but

Thanks this week for financial support from Terry Colgan, N5RTC of
Texas Radio Shortwave, via PayPal in US funds but not necessarily, to
woradio at yahoo.com, ``thanks for your hard work, keeping us
up-to-date on all things broadcasting.``

One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser,
P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Tim Hall replies to my unID 670: ``To the best of my
knowledge, KHGZ is still Fox Sports. See``
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KHGZ

This image was posted to the Fox Sports Radio - Hot Springs Facebook
page on March 26th:
Arkansas Stations includes: ``Glenwood 670 AM - Fox Sports`` ---
Indeed, NRC AM Log showed it instead as C&W, Silent as of 11/23, ND 5
kW daytimer. So at 0220 UT cheating post-sunset (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** VANUATU. 9960, June 2 at 0444, R. Vanuatu JBA but I can tell it`s
managing to modulate some talk. 0607 recheck S4/S5 and almost
readable. Ron Howard reported:

``0055-0100* UT, June 2, via NZ SDR remotes; finally heard again with
good audio till suddenly went off the air; listened for about 10
minutes and remained off the air; a brief check later at about 0200
found no signal. Also checked 2485, 3945, 5040 and 7260, but no signal
was heard. Again I contacted the station. - - - June 2, at 0132 UT,
received a quick reply from Pryce Aptenbel:

"Hi Ron, Thank you for your message, and my apologies for the dead air
over the weekend. There was a brief interruption caused by an issue
with one of the Optimods that provides audio to our HF and MF
transmitters. However, we managed to resolve the issue. Thank you once
again for your continued support and for always tuning in to Radio
Vanuatu on shortwave. Kind regards," -- Now from 0245+ UT, a good
signal on 9960, in French. Ron, Monterey, Calif.``  (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9340.41, June 2 at 0611, JBA carrier with trace of
modulation? Suspected spur out of 9330 WBCQ, but it`s axually weaker,
S3/S4. Nothing listed on 9340 except CNR1 jamming and Sound of Hope
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
This report dispatched at 1851 UT June 2
