** CANADA. 990, Sept 4 at 0657 UT, ``Asian news from NHK World`` must
be segment on CBC via CBW Winnipeg (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA [and non]. RHC coming back on more and more frequencies, UT
Sept 4 observations into Georgia SDR: 9710 at 0217 English S7/S9 but
severely breaking up, which never clears up later; sounds much
stronger than // 6000 S7/S9 but not breaking up. At 0220, 9710 S9+25
breaking up, 6000 OK but a bit distorted, S9+40.
At 0453, 6000 VG S9+20/30, good mod; 9710 S9+10/20 breaking up and now
atop some CCI, which would be VATICAN in Ukrainian/Russian at
0440-0500-0520 daily. Same breakup into Maryland SDR, so a
transmission, not reception problem. 9710 much stronger than 6000.
At 0619, 9710 still on breaking up in English, 6000 off.
At 0635, 9710 S9+10 direct, still on in English breaking up. Not
checked further tonight.
At 1417 Sept 4: 15140, S4 direct, music, Spanish; // 13780 S5, 15230
JBA, 11760 S6/7. That`s at least 4 = *four* transmitters at once! if
15230 really RHC, nothing else listed.
At 1448, 11760 off, 13780 JBA carrier, 15140 off, 15230 JBA carrier.
At 1454, 11760 only still on in Spanish.
At 1903 check, 15140 again with RHC English, S8/S9 direct but
undermodulated.
Another report, in the British DX Club: ``Radio Havana Cuba heard in
English on 6000 kHz this morning from 0415 tune-in until transmitter
closed at 0600 UT. Good readable signal but slight hum.
It was parallel 9710 kHz which suffered some slight audio break-up but
was still very readable. But 9710 also had co-channel interference
here from Vatican Radio from 0439 to 0520 (in Ukrainian then
Russian?). (9710 was still on air a little after 6000 closed at 0600
but unsure when 9710 closed.)
1st hour of programmes repeated from 0457. So included the 'Mailbag
Show' with Ed Newman and listener letters at 0432 and again at 0532.

** U S A. 8992 USB, Sept 4 at 1455, US military fonetik crypto message
exercise, interrupted by ``stand by`` and noise bursts. WMIIRE is the
identifier which then starts entire message:
WMIIRELEUHEDJIAH7ZQG5?YNGYWIP3 to 1457, repeated, ``This is Young Boy,
out`` to 1458. The ? one letter missing due only to my undecipherable
scribble.
15016 USB, Sept 4 to 1902* caught tail of another of these, after
first finding it JBA on 8992 USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2310 monitoring: ``MW propagation
was quite disturbed last night [Tue Sept 2] when I monitored between
2300-2400. Trans-Atlantic DX was poor & noisy under sub-auroral
conditions. Reception from the south was enhanced: around 2000 UT
reception of IRRS Italy on 1323 kHz was as good as I’ve ever heard it
with Glenn Hauser’s World of Radio show. 73 Steve Using the BDMR in NW

** U S A. 9395, Sept 4 at 0635, this WRMI on with SMTV, S9+5 direct,
no 9455 or 9955. No signal either from 9330 WBCQ (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
** U S A. 17790, Sept 4 at 1454, WRMI IS & ID by Bob Biermann,
``regular programming to resume at top of hour``, S5/S8 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)
** U S A. 1140 kHz, Sept 4 at 0648 UT, KXRB weather, ``Real Country``.
Still anomalous for this Sioux Falls SD to dominate the frequency,
like on Aug 29; suspected ND day pattern of 10 kW, rather than
direxional 5 kW night. NRC AM Log gives slogan ``Pure American
Country`` -- they could well use both (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 1570, Sept 4 at 0655 UT, KBCV, Bott network, ``serving the
Ozarx, 24 hours``. It`s Hollister MO, U4 5/3 kW, address in
Springfield, which is outside distant coverage contour at night, from
site near Branson, NW/SE main lobes; day pattern more circular but
less to the west. NO XERF problem (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** VANUATU. 9960, Sept 4 at 0637, RV still here, S1/S3 JBA (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. re: ”1200 kHz, Sept 3 at 0637 UT, partial ID mentioning
103.? FM, mixing WOAI. No correlations found in NRC AM Log (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)”
``My first guess would be WMIR, which has a translator on 103.7 in
Conway SC (moved from 103.5 at some point). I haven't noticed any
reports of them running day power at night since 2018, but you never
know. https://www.mbrejoice.com/
{WMIR: Atlantic Beach SC, U1 6500/11 watts, address in Little River}
A second possibility might be WMUZ running a promo for their
(non-simulcasting?) FM on 103.5…. but their day and night patterns
really shouldn't throw much signal your way. HTH. 73 Tim Hall``
