Glenn Hauser logs March 29-30, 2026

Monday, March 30 2026

** ASCENSION. 6180, Mon March 30 at 0519, sped-up dialog in African
language, S9+10/20. HFCC shows BBC Hausa daily except Sundays. Brasil
would not be on at this hour, but watch out: not in HFCC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, March 30 at 0517, S9+30/40 of deadair from R. Rebelde;
a lot of that lately. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, March 30 at 0528, RHC Spanish sportstalk, SSOB S9+30;
still on at 0714, S9+20 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 13720, March 29 at 1447, R. Martí S9+5 on new
frequency, ex-13820, but still on 13570, 11930, 11860. HFCC A26 shows
available 14-01 UT, despite ARS also on 13720 at 18-23 - probably
wooden, and ISS at 2000-2030. No other new USAGM Spanish frequencies
registered. Was there a problem with 13820? Zero registrations of
broadcasters there now, nor 13815; and no 13825s in the WHem (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 730, March 30 at 0505, anthem playing but not the national,
then ID for XEHB, ``La Más Picuda``, 104.7. Reminds me not to assume
it`s XEX on 730 - now reduced to only 60 kW and several others listed.
XEHB is in Hidalgo del Parral, Chihua2. Picuda translates as
Barracuda, really? But the whole slogan as ``The Baddest One``. I had
logged it in 2010y, after it moved from 770 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [non]. 11785, Sun Mar 29 at 2210, NO signal from VOT English
on new A26 frequency and time into UTwente! Here we go again; nor on
9875, possible overrun of previous 2030-2130 broadcast; however,
strong Esperanto on 9880, i.e. CRI Kashgar 500 kW 269 degrees for
CIRAF 13-15. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 4095, March 30 at 0514, sweeps upward are JBA, from ``Desert
Whooper`` which also sends DW in CW, that not yet heard again. But in
Oct 2021, I got this reply from desert_whooper@protonmail.com -- ``Hi
Glenn! The Whooper’s carrier is crystal controlled at 4095.65 KHz. The
CW is at the crystal frequency and the whoops are an upward sweep
from 4095.65 to 4095.80 (150 Hz). With a receiver tuned to 4095.0 KHz
and an upper sideband filter that is 60 dB down at 6 Khz it would be
possible to hear two signals mix together. All the best, DW team``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 6586 USB, March 30 at 0521, 2-way ATC contact, exchanging
numbers like 3564. EiBi shows only NY Radio with Caribbean (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2340 monitoring: as per sked of
IRRS SW via AM Italia, repeated one hour later, Sunday March 29 at
2000 UT on 1322.997- kHz, S9 into UTwente.

Confirmed Sunday March 29 at 2155 the 2130 on SW Radio Gold, Germany,
3975.001+, S8/9+5 into UTwente.

Confirmed Sunday March 29 at 2300 on WRMI 9395, S9+30 into Georgia
SDR, but drops off air for a few sex every minute. At 2322, I posted
this: ``WRMIs cutting off and on, stormy? The 2300 WOR on WRMI 9395 is
constantly interrupted by transmitter dropoffs for a few sex at a
time; same thing happening on 9455 vs Wavescan; and on 9955, and
15770, and I assume all WRMIs. Blitzortung shows no major storm in
area, but maybe a very tiny one near Okee. I guess all power at the
station is going off and on. Have not noted a problem like this
before, resulting in unlistenable programming. Glenn``

``Hi Glenn, I've been listening since the beginning of the show and
I'm still listening. It sounds fine here in central NC. On 9395 kHz.
I'm listening to WOR on 9455 now. It sounds ok so far, but
I've been listening only for a couple of minutes. 2333. I listened to
the rest of WOR on 9455 kHz at 2330 and it sounded fine. I missed the
first couple of minutes. Doug White KA5ETS, Carrboro, NC``

``9455 also OK here after 2330. If you had no breaks on 9395, it must
have been the remote I was listening via, KU4SD in Athens, GA. Sure
seemed like a transmission rather than reception problem. Glenn``

Also confirmed Sunday March 29 at 2330 on WRMI 9455, VG direct.

Also confirmed UT Monday March 30 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S7/9+10 into S
Texas SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday March 30 at 0300 on Area 51 webcast, just as
WBCQ 5130 is signing off. Next:

1930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW;
1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];
1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];
2000 UT Tuesday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323;
2230 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast] [new];
2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
2330 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2330 UT Thursday WRMI 5950 to NNW.

Thanks this week to Chris Campbell, Columbus OH, who sent a box of
equipment. One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

Or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, March 30 at 0248, this WTWW is off again, and earlier
this evening (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7780, Mon March 30 at 0526, operatic singing on WRMI. Maybe
Prague which was at 0600-0630 on WRN in B-season; WRN A-26 not yet up
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 4840, March 30 at 0515, WWCR-3 gospel huxter with constant
squeal, i.e. pitch slightly varying, on both the R75 and PL660, so a
transmission defect. Scheduled this hour only on Mondays is ``The
Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the`` + run out of space on the
grid. Something`s notright at Nashville (Glenn Hauser, oK, WOR)

** U S A. 7505, March 30 at 0524, WRNO undermodulated, not Chinese or
English, so probably Hindi, pauses. EiBi shows Hindi irr. at 0300-0430
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 560, March 30 at 0459 UT, KWTO plug for ``93-7 The Stage``,
Springfield. That`s KZMO, merely 1.1 kW H&V, in Fair Grove MO. KWTO`s
own FM is a mere translator on 93.3. Fair Grove is just NE of Spfld.
One wonders why anystation obviously intended to serve a much larger
city be licensed to such an outlier town (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 660, March 30 at 0507 UT, Navajo chanting, so must be KTNN
yet again failing to null toward New York; makes it hard to hear XEFZ,
close to right angle (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. ``970 KVWM Show Low, AZ -- I had noted this station
considerably off frequency at about 969.84 on March 21st. I can only
receive them under auroral conditions, so didn't get them again until
March 28th at 0600 UTC, but this time they were on 969.42. I didn't
make the connection at the time, but this could well be the cause of
the low audible het Glenn Hauser noted in his report for March 20th,
from a freq of about 969.935. Given the current offset, and the speed
with which it is getting worse I'm assuming this will have to be
addressed soon, but in the meantime KVWM certainly stands out. 73,
Nigel Pimblett, Dunmore, AB`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** VATICAN. Re: ``11815, Mar 29 at 0638, RCC chanting, Slavic lang,
S9+20/25, and // 9710 at 0643. In A26 this is Ukrainian liturgy
Sundays only at 0605-0700, supposedly aimed 54 and 62 degrees, nowhere
near sidewise thisaway yet VG (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)``

``The Ukrainian liturgy isn't anything at all like the RCC, Glenn.
It's basically an Orthodox service (only chanting/singing, and never
any instruments like organs, etc). The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church
originates from the Union of Brest back in 1594 (I think), where the
Orthodox Church split, with the Uniate faction (UGCC) uniting with the
Church in Rome. All a very interesting history. You'd have trouble
differentiating the 2 liturgies, although they do mention the Pope, of
course, in the Uniate Church rather than the Patriarch. In Ukraine,
the Orthodox and UGC churches only have their liturgies in Ukrainian
these days, while the ROC still celebrates in Church Slavonic. Sorry
for the history lesson, Glenn! Walt Salmaniw -- Enjoying the world of
radio from my remote QTH on Haida Gwaii off the NW coast of BC,
Canada``

Volodya, OK, but are you saying the RCC`s own VR broadcasts would not
strictly adhere to RCC liturgies? Tho to an outsider this seems like
splitting hairs. Glenn

``That's exactly correct, Glenn. Nothing Roman Catholic at all.
Perhaps anything in Russian also wouldn't have any "RCC" flavour,
either. Whenever I've been in a RCC church service, it feels
absolutely foreign to me, while any Orthodox service, be it Greek,
Armenian, or Ukrainian, I feel quite at home with the service (lots of
chanting, incense, and the like) Walt`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1650 kHz, March 30 at 0501 UT, continuous less than 1
kHz tone, not a het since it`s DSB audible. Maybe KSVE El Paso TX
which used to tone all-night, rather than TUDN sports in Spanish - but
no tone at next check 0509 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
