across, WIRL Peoria IL, announcing they are going to close down at
*noon* March 31 - so they did not mean midnight by ``12 PM``.
Permanent signoff, but conservative talk continues on so-called
``Freedom 95.9``. Then repeated. So that`s 1700* UT Tuesday March 31.
Less than one sesquihour to go as I [first] post this.
At 1655 UT March 31, I tune in via the ``Will it play in Peoria``
KiwiSDR, joining 5 others listening there. Same about-to-sign-off
announcement repeats over and over, then at 1658 a final final
announcement by a station official whose name I do not catch or
record, ``...for the final time, this is WIRL, Peoria, Illinois,
signing off``, and plug pulled right at 1700* UT. Nothing but noise in
the daytime. The closest surviving 1290s can be found in WI, MI, KY.
We may take some comfort in one less far-right talker infesting the AM

log, but Wolfgang Bueschel reports this date: ``COLOMBIA 5909.981 kHz
Alcaraván Radio poor S=6-7 at 0457 UT``. Sibling LV de tu Conciencia
has been reliably on 6010+, but not the 5910. Per EiBi & Aoki A26, the
only other 5910 is Romania between 1430 and 2000, so should not be a
problem. However, HFCC adds that 5910 is a 24h standby/placeholder by
Vatican Radio for IRDR - the rarely if ever activated International
