** CUBA. 11880, May 4 at 2207, S9+10 of dead air from RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 15140, May 5 at 0631, RHC S9+20 of deadair with windhowl.
This is supposed to be a mid-day frequency, not mid-night! SAWA. Tony
Pavick reported earlier: ``Looks like at 0000 UT R Habana Cuba has
shaken the container of magic dice and out popped a good clear signal
in English on -- 15140 khz! 9710 and 11760 are missing.
It would appear that RHC ran the regular slate of hourly language
offerings with English starting at 2355, with Kriyol at 0055 and
Portuguese at 0155. Portuguese aired at 0355 and English was back at
0455. As I did not monitor the entire evening, I don't know what
happened between 0225 and 0355. Tony Pavick, Hope BC`` (Glenn Hauser,

** SPAIN. 17715, May 4 at 2159, S9+20 of dead air on the 7th day in a
row from REE to South America, S9+20 direct; 15500 & 15520 are
modulating OK with live air (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SPAIN. 17715, May 5 at 1920, REE is finally modulating! After a
full week of dead air. S6/8 into Maryland SDR, during `Tablero
Deportivo`, wasting a huge amount of modulation on silly ballgames.
15500 & 15520 still on as usual (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TAIWAN [non]. See USA: WRMI
** TURKEY. 11785, May 4 at 2158, no signal direct from VOT English,
nor later in hour nor on possible accidentalternate 9875. Something`s
always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2345 monitoring: confirmed Monday
May 4 at 1930 on SW Radio Gold, Germany, 6160.000 S9/+10 and 3975.001-
S8/9 into UTwente.
Also confirmed UT Tuesday May 5 at 0330 on WRMI 5850, S9. Was
expecting it on usual 7780, but `Freedom Synergy Radio` from 0300
continued there past 0330, so I checked what had been // for it, 5850,
and there I am at S9! Remains to be heard whether this be a reliable
permanent change.
Also confirmed Tuesday May 5 at 1300 on WRMI 9955, S5/S7 direct.
Also confirmed Tuesday May 5 at 1413 the 1400 on WRMI 9955, JBA S3/S6
with ECSS. Next:
2000 UT Tuesday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323;
2230 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];

** U S A. 17790, May 4 at 2203, WRMI, S9+20 of dead air direct, and
also 15770, S9+20 of dead air, both instead of R Taiwán Internacional
in Spanish. Meanwhile, 9955 & 9395 are JBA with modulation. At 2217,
15 & 17 still DA. FINALLY, at 2246 when I am running Maryland remote,
German audio pops on 15770 and also 17790. Scheduled at this time is
R. Prague International, but NOT specified as German!! So references
assume it is English. At 2256 an unfamiliar very brief IS? repeats
over and over every few seconds.
At 2300 they have split: 15770 with KBS World Radio in English, 17790
something in French translating from Slavic at 2324. At 2331, 15770
with Israel Radio in English; informal American-accented news, but
chopped off at 2359 for WRN ID, and that`s chopped off for WRMI
Okeechobee Ocean ID; and from 0000 May 5, RSI in Slovak. KBS and
Israel at 23-24 are as in WRN schedule. When WRMI is relaying some
foreign broadcaster in English, it *may* be via WRN. If in other
languages, even same station, not via WRN, I think (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
** U S A. 17790, May 5 at 1450, after open carrier, 10-minute runup to
``top of hour`` programming, WRMI IS and IDs, S9 and the SSOB, would
be the OSOB if not for a JBA carrier on 17700 from TWR MADAGASCAR in S
Asian languages (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. Re my 1420 log: ``Hi Glenn, KTOE is the best choice; You'll
find both of KTOE's translators listed in the Grp= Information Radio.
Doing some research, I found that KTOE has dropped one of their
xlators so that group will be gone in the next LOG.
KWBF is interesting, the FCC lists two licenses for K254CI in the fmq
with the same Facility ID, one on 98.3 and one on 98.7; the LOG
database is driven by the FCC data so looks like it grabbed the first
translator with the Facility ID. Email is off to the keeper of the fmq
to see if they can rectify the situation. 73, Wayne Heinen N0POH, AM
Radio Logbook Editor`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)
** VANUATU. 5040, May 5 at 0633, JBA carrier, no doubt R. Vanuatu,
ex-7260 or 9960. Ron Howard had reported 5040 reactivated the night
before. Not yet a JBA carrier on 5020 from Solomon Islands, next to
Cuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 7260, May 4 at 2158, JBA carrier direct. Only thing
scheduled now is CRI `Portuguese` = fill music via Urumqi, EAST
TURKISTAN. Rather early before LSS for that, but more likely than
Vanuatu; or maybe hAM carrier but seems constant (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 9936.0, May 5 at 0634, S6 of open carrier with JBA clix,
another of the -6 mysteries, like 9236.0 et al. elsewhen. What is
this? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
