Glenn Hauser logs December 17-18, 2017
Monday, December 18 2017

** CUBA. 9720, Dec 17 at 2303, RHC in Spanish // stronger 9640 and weaker 9535, but 9720 is supposed to be in French. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 6180, Dec 18 at 0108, S9-S7 but undermodulated in Spanish, not Portuguese so it`s IRIB as scheduled and no sign of BrasÃlia (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEWFOUNDLAND & LABRADOR. 2598-USB, Dec 18 at 0119, VP S8 vs S6 band noise level, YL with marine weather in English. CG sked
shows starting at 0107 is VOK Labrador, apparently controlled from Goose Bay but transmitted from St. Anthony, Newfoundland. Nothing heard on 2749-USB at this time from Nova Scotia area (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6929.99-USB, Dec 18 at 0120, S9 pirate but deep fades, folk song, same guitar chords over and over, but different libretto, sounds sorta like Dylan, including ``What Goes Up ---``. 0124 DJ says he has tears in his eyes over this music; building a studio, improving audio, beamed to western United States; maybe ID in passing during fade sounds like perhaps ``Yaddy-Man``, ``Merry Christmas to you all``. More music, 0127, ``You`re tuned to the Bloody(?) Man``; Or is it Boogy-Man? Says he is old, mad as hell, talks over music, swears against the FCC, ``what the -uc- are they going to do to me?`` 0134 ``music that makes you cry``; swears against classic rock stations, FCC net neutrality ruling, and one more ID in which the second word is definitely ``Man``.

More logs of same here:
who say the first singer was Tom Petty, but no one says anything about the ``--- Man`` ID (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1908 monitoring:
GERMANY, Reception of World of Radio via HLR 9485-CUSB, Dec 17
1131-1200 on 9485 GOH 001 kW / 230 deg to CeEu English Sun, fair
(Ivo Ivanov, Bulgaria, dxldyg via DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Confirmed UT Monday December 18 at 0046 on WBCQ 9330.033v-CUSB, at midpoint, S8 but deep fades, later S7 and ending at 0058:49. Glad to be able to confirm this on the bigrigs after not much heard the past week; when tried at 0032 on the PL-880 I was hearing something else on 9330, in fact two talk stations mixing, I guess that receiver`s imagination. By 0112, 9330 is still audible with Blalock the blaster. Also confirmed UT Monday Dec 18 from 0402 on Area 51 webcast, and via WBCQ 5129.8, fair at 0423 check. Also confirmed UT Monday December 18 after 0430 on WRMI webcast, and 9955 checked a few minutes earlier was good but with some pulse jamming; tnx a lot, Arnie! Next:
Tue 0030 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Tue 0030 WRMI 7730 to WNW
Tue 2030 WRMI 11580 to NE, 9455 to WNW, 7780 to NE
Tue 2130 WRMI 9455 to WNW [or #1909?]

Full WOR schedule via all media, and podcast access:

** U S A. 9955, UT Mon Dec 18 at 0115, WRMI introduces `Moderna` and blogger Yadira starts her commentary in Spanish, main subject being the FCC voting against Net Neutrality. Apparently this will also impact Cuba`s fledgling internet, already tightly government-controlled. Points out that SW is also regulated, requiring a license. VG S9+35 fading to S9, no jamming audible this time, unlike the previous broadcast until 0015 December 17 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 3215, UT Mon Dec 18 at 0101, WWRB is S9+40 with far-right politico-religious talk (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 12105, Dec 17 at 2305, no signal from WTWW Xmasmx, nor 5085, but that is on a couple of hours later (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

This report dispatched at 0518 UT December 18
