detectable from the other Pacificans, weaker to stronger: < 5055 4KZ <

** CHINA. 5980, Dec 25 at 1534, soft songs at S6-S7. Too early for
Turkey before *1700, scheduled this hour as CRI in Japanese so also

** CUBA. 13562 S7 & S9 13838 approx., Dec 25 at 1537, second-order
spurblobs out of 13700-AM RHC at 138 kHz displacements. The lower one
barely far enough from 13565 K6FRC beacon JBA. First-orders about
13631 S9 and 13769 S7-S8, plus/minus 69 kHz. Then I seek and find
traces of further orders: 13908 S4-S5, 13977 S3; and 13493. During
`Sonido Cubano` music which this time is better audible in FM mode on

** CUBA. 11660, Dec 25 at 2250, RHC `Jazz Place` VG S9+30 as I tune by
--- on wrong frequency! English 2200 hour should be on 11880. Well, 8
and 6 can look a lot alike in some fonts; could Xmas Day have brought
an unfamiliar substitute operator in? Excellent modulation too, a
rarity on RHC. Spanish are on usual 11760, 11850. But at 2252, 11660
abruptly cuts off --- better go before gh notices, but too late! I
then retune to 11880 expecting it to come up but never does by 2256,
beyond a couple of split-second attempts to turn it on? Hour almost

seems R. Chaski in another extended broadcast beyond timer cutoff

** SPAIN. 9690, Dec 25 at 2300, REE English with early Xmas music, as
Alison Hughes has previewed, but unusually weak signal mars enjoyment,
S9 fading to S7 instead of solid over 9. Normally VG by this hour, but
11940 and 12030 are propagating even less. Instead I listen for a

English to us, first with news, a lot of it about Turkey`s aid to

songs past 2330. Recheck at 0008 Dec 26, 5960 is still on, with that

with their special Xmas show about customs; which religions celebrate

is a music show equally well-received previous hour. Best audio on

** U A E. 11655.116, Dec 25 at 1619, JBA carrier way off-frequency. Of
course! It the DHA site during this semihour only with IBRA Radio

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2013 monitoring: confirmed
Wednesday December 25 from 2200:20 on WBCQ 7490.03v, the reliable
postponed start time, after canned ID, after dead air at 2159.5, after
Bing Crosby Xmasmx instead of `Financial Survival`.
Also confirmed UT Wed Dec 26 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, VG at UTwente, and
unusually good here, S9/+10. Also as usual, Bob Zanotti gets his name
in edgewise just before I start, after the full ID.
WOR 2014 should start SWairing Friday Dec 27 at 0900 on Unique Radio,
NSW, 5045-USB low-power; and on WRMI at 2300 on 9955 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 5800, Dec 25 at 2231 and several later chex by 0102 UT Dec
26, NO signal from this WRMI, nor on ex-9425 nor ex-ex-6060, so no
SMTV nor RAE relay after 0100. What happened? Still shown as before on

** U S A. 4840, Dec 25 at 0811, S9+20 of dead air from WWCR instead of
TOMBS, but far more than enough, he does continue to modulate with
squeal on 3215. The others: 5935 PMS at S9+40/50; 5890 off as it
should be altho was on with its own dead air back at 0519, also S9+50.
Isn`t it incredible how so many stations are incapable of fulfilling
their most basic funxion --- transmitting with modulation?! (Glenn

** U S A. 9980, Dec 25 at 2234, poor S9-S6 gospel huxter in English
but very undermodulated, hard to follow. 2256 recheck slightly better
closing `Chosen Generation` show; 2258 re-introducing another episode
of same with Pastor Gray, but cut off at 2300:23 for WWCR sign-off
``until later today``. 9980 can blast in earlier, but MUF has now
dropped, and such degraded modulation is very unusual for WWCR. #4
transmitter is scheduled on 9980 for only 10 hours a week, M-F 21-22
Financial Survival and 22-23 Chosen Generation, supposedly with Pastor
Gregory Young per pdf skedgrid. This is the same transmitter as on
5890 later with completely dead air (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

** U S A. 610, Dec 25 at 1904 UT, dead air from KCSP Kansas City;
still dead past 1907 in case it were just a newshole failure, but if
modulating it would be daffy sports talk, a far cry from the ancient
WDAF. Could it be that everyhuman possibly responsible be away on

UNIDENTIFIED. 6340.9, Dec 25 at 2229, big ute pulser as I am seeking
the Radio Piranha International beacon publicized for 6342, by Jorge
Garcia Dec 25 on HCDX:
``Dear friends. This evening, and the coming days until the 2nd of
January 2020 we will be active with our Beacon transmitter on 6342 kHz
CW. from 23 utc (or before) until 08.00 utc. 10 watts of CW power. 73'
from Jorge``
But soon he changed that to 6343, perhaps for the same reason. Not
audible yet here on either. Is it from South America, or Europe?
