Glenn Hauser logs April 15,, 2021

Thursday, April 15 2021

** CUBA. 6060, April 15 at 0627, RHC English with bigbuzz; 6100 & 6165
OK; 6000 & 5040 off. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13420 vs RTTY, 13490, 13560 vs local Part 15 ISM pulsing,
13630; 13770, 13840, 13909, 13979-trace, April 15 at 1412, FMish
spurblobs with F# tone at ~70 kHz intervals, out of RHC 13700-AM which
is only S9-S7 and undermodulated during `Sonido Cubano` music. Not in
the order tuned. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** KIRITIMATI [and non]. 846 kHz, April 15 at 0600 UT, JBA carrier
again tonight, presumed R. Kiribati, Xmas Island; no TA carriers, but
another on 1098, likely another TP, Marshall Islands (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 341-MCW kHz, April 15 at 0610 UT, Enid NDB EI
is still on, alternating nicely with OIN Oberlin KS; almost same
periods but eventually will overlap (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PERU. 4752.468v, April 15 at 0024, R. Huanta 2000 presumed, again
tonight within 4 Hz of where it was SDR SAM-measured last night, via
TWR KiwiSDR, Boa Vista, Brasil, S8-S9 but VP unreadable, so with BFO I
just listen for the carrier to drop, which it does at 0028* (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 305-MCW kHz, April 15 at 0604 UT, NDBeacon RO, which is 150
watts from Roswell NM; I was tuned to 303-USB. Seldom heard, last
logged even later on Feb 19. Earlier tonight also had RYN Tucson on
338 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2081 monitoring: confirmed final repeat,
UT Thu Apr 15 at 0130 on WRMI 5010, S9/+10
into Bonaire SDR.

NEW WOR 2082 should be ready by early UT Fri Apr 16 for first
broadcasts on WRMIs 5850 to NW and 7780 to NE (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Chris Gay, KU4A, notified the WOR iogroup at 0117 UT April
15: ``840, WHAS's Facebook page says they will go off the air at 11 PM
EDT tonight (0300 UTC 15 April) for "several hours" of maintenance. A
great chance to DX the frequency, especially for people like me who
are only 80 miles from their transmitter.``

An amplified compendium of my replies:

At 0301, WHAS still on with ABC news, 0302-0304+ own news; heavy 5 Hz
SAH from KVJY, normally audible with WHAS nulled. Night pattern with 1
kW is supposedly fat cardioid toward SW, protecting WHAS to NE, and
with very little signal due north toward me:
https://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/amq?list=0&facid=64629

Well, WHAS still haven`t gone off by 0321 UT. O, just cut off rudely
at 0323 uncovering KVJY Spanish praise music. What else? CMHW Cuba
should be heard.

At 0330, KVJY ID as ``R. Aléluya, 1600 Pasadena Blvd., Pasadena,
Tejas``.

With WHAS off, 1.6 Hz SAH between KVJY and something.
Streaming linx for comparison

https://radioaleluya.org/
https://www.cmhw.cu/

Listening to CMHW webcast, ``s/off`` and Cuban NA by 0400 -- but
continues with ``W Santa Clara, en el centro de Cuba`` --- and
``informativo de CMHW...``

The major other UStation on 840 is news/talk KXNT Las Vegas NV, 25 kW
but major lobes to north and SSW.

At 0400, KVJY, Pharr, Texas, brief legal ID in English. Pharr is far
from Houston, but apparently programmed from HQ. Webpage has listen
linx to it and 3 other sibling stations, so not simulcasting?

And WHAS, 5 Hz SAH cut back on by *0416. Off again by 0422*. WHAS on
again for a few seconds at *0424 - etc., etc.? Not listening closely
after that, but WHAS back on to stay by 0500 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU [and non]. 11835, April 15 at 0626, 3 x 3945 R. Vanuatu
with talk in Bislama, S5-S6 better than usual; also JBA on 7890 = 2 x
3945. No sign of co-channel China on 11835. At 0632, NZ inbooming
S9+10/20 on 11725 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 2182-USB, April 15 at 0613 UT, YL making a call, no
reply heard. I bandscan across here every night, but hardly ever hear
anything on this once-major calling/distress channel. Must stop and
sit on it for longtime (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 1647 UT April 15
