Glenn Hauser logs February 10-11, 2022

Friday, February 11 2022

** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Feb 10 at 0701, JBA carrier, surely R.
Kiribati; while no trans-Atlantic signals are making it. A few nights
ago, 846 was stronger than usual, but never able to pull any audio
from it. Tnx to Gary DeBock, here`s what it would be like:

``846-Kiribati has a very early fade in (around 0500 UTC in the Oregon
coast), and signs off around 1015 UTC. Here's its typical format, with
the standard female announcer speaking from 1:30 to 1:58 in another
recording from last month``

First broadcasts confirmed UT Friday February 11 at 0130 on WRMIs:
5850 VG S9+10/20 direct; 7780 F S9/+10 direct but sounds much weaker
by comparison. 7780 good S8-S9 into UTwente as aimed (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11555-USB, Feb 10 at 1553, VP 2-way in Spanish Intruders
if you consider 25mb SWBC starting at defacto 11500 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 17850, Feb 10 at 1546, big open carrier turned off in a
few seconds before I could measure it. Nothing comparable among few
week known signals on 16 mb. Most likely it`s VOA Grimesland NC
testing prior to scheduled service on quite different frequency, 17655
from 1700 or 17700 from 1900 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNSOLICITED TESTIMONIAL

``Just a short word. I started listening to SW radio when in high
school back around 1980 when I was 14-15 and listened to you regularly
for several years. Thank you! The information you provided was
absolutely fascinating at a time when world communications really were
at the heart of understanding the world.

I am glad to find that you are still doing the program. Thank you for
what you do. I am planning to get into Ham radio this year, taking the
ARRL exam and going from there.

All the best to you, Dan Golembeski (Michigan)``
