awake past 0800. Still off at next check 1614, leaving a couple very
weak signals.``KGWA`` is still going on 100.9 FM, but how can that be,
with no AM to ``translate``? AM listeners deprived of their far-right
talkshow lineup.
For almost a year, KGWA has been on U1 250/250 W ND STA instead of U3
1000/1000 watts. This situation has been unnoticeable at local range
of about 3 miles from site. FCC info about KGWA via NRC DX News, by
advanced masthead issue dates:
Feb 7, 2023: applies for STA as one tower needs to be replaced
Feb 21, 2023: STA granted, during tower repairs

about 3960 km = 2460 stmi; Xmasmx pauses at 0700 for KMPH, Modesto ID.

local KGWA: see OKLAHOMA. Nearest other 960s are KMA Shenandoah IA,
533 km=331 stmi; KGKL San Angelo TX, 597 km=371 stmi; KZIM Cape
Girardeau MO, 748 km=465 stmi. Also stn in AR and another in TX.
Dec 25 before 1700 UT, only traces of a couple weaksigs into the R75
and longwire, so I`m into the frigid car which should pull a little
better. ABC news is JBA at 1700, mentions Colo. Sprs. but that would
just be an item in nat`l news. Lite ACI from the 950 & 970 fringe
stations which are stronger. 1704 local weather by YL voice, but
cannot make out any details except current temp 34 degrees. 1705
singing ID? 1706 Chip Davis with `Mannheim Steamroller`s American
Xmas`.
Brrr, back inside to check the streams: KGKL San Angelo is indeed
still ESPN, so nix that. At 1719, KMA is in `Mannheim Steamroller`s
American Christmas`, hosted by Chip Davis, MHSR founder: seems also
includes Xmasmx by other performers. KZIM Cape Girardeau MO, remote
other possibility is emitting nothing but clicking on its stream; but
see separate log later.
By 1800 UT Dec 25, KMA stream sure enough, is with ABC news. Plenty of
ads before and after but no local weather follows; 1806, back to
Mannheim Streamroller`s American Christmas, with Chip Davis who claims
it`s heard all over the country via hundreds of stations: on KMA,
presumably a holiday-only diversion from its usual talk format. Anyhow
I`m sure KMA is the one I have been getting direct. This time of year,
some residual midday skywave could be in play; there is some slight
slow fading, but also at that awkward distance where groundwave is
