 ANGUILLA

Caribbean Beacon is back on 6090 kHz, at 0600, with nonstop Dr. Gene Scott programming after having been blown off by hurricane Georges. Station can also be heard at 1155 on 11775 kHz with music. In parallell with KAIJ, 5810, but not to WWCR, 5935, which must have been playing a tape rather than the satellite feed (Hauser, DX Report 98-47)

CANADA

CBF, Montreal, goes silent

CBF, 690, the French-language CBC outlet in Montreal, has gone silent, completing the move to FM that began six months ago. At present, and despite conflicting reports elsewhere, we can confirm that the other three Toronto and Montreal CBC AM's are still on the air, although CBM-940 seemed to be operating with a reduced signal. LIBYA

Libyan foreign radio now "Voice of Africa"

Since October 12, Libya's external radio service, which usually calls itself "Voice of the Greater Arab Homeland" , was monitored calling itself "Voice of Africa" (Arabic: Sawt Afriqia) for the first time.

This appears to be in line with the recent reorientation of foreign policy by the Libyan leader Colonel Qadhafi, who has been distancing his country from the Arab world because of what he sees as the failure of efforts towards Arab unity, and advocating closer relations with African countries instead. Internet

Go get yourself a MFJ-1026 Phaser

If you're a serious medium wave DXer, have access to long wires or Beverages and have contemplated buying something to give you an edge (maybe even a new receiver), you have just got to have one of these, says New Zealand DX Paul Ormandy.
