[DX] KBKR vastaus
Julkiset kiitokset Jimille - erikoisia ja hauskoja tarnoita
vastauksista on mukava lukea. Tarina KBKR:stä oli vielä mukavampi,
sillä se tuotti myös minulle alla olevan vastauksen.
73's jhy
Jyrki,
Well I have good news for you sir! That was in fact our station. We
simulcast KLBM 1450AM (Union County, Oregon) and KBKR 1490AM (Baker
County, Oregon). I can easily identify the voice, simply because it is
of my own. You heard the ending tag of our one minute community
reminder feature we run at the bottom of each hour throughout the day.
It's always exciting to hear from our "fans" overseas. This past year
has been really good for reception of our station around Finland and
Sweden. Just over the past two weeks, I've received contact from 3
people in Finland alone.
I took a look at your websites, and will be printing out your pictures
to include with your email, and add it to our wall of letters. :)

KLBM La Grande, OR 1450 & KBKR Baker City, OR 1490:
Jim,
Greetings from Oregon! Yes, that in fact is our station you picked
up. We simulcast KLBM 1450 kHz and KBKR 1490 kHz throughout Union
and Baker Counties here in Eastern Oregon.
It is really cool to know my voice was being heard so far away. Your
recording has me saying "Supertalk 1450 and 1490 AM" during my
morning program.
About 6 months ago, another gentleman from Finland contacted us and
provided a recording of our station from around October of 2007(?).
Shortly after that, someone else in Sweden reported they picked us
up too.
It's great that we have listeners throughout the world. Especially
since once traveling out of our area through the surrounding
mountains, it is somewhat difficult to receive the station signal
even then.
Towards the end of last month, a few ham enthusiasts wanted to start
a beginner ham class in our area. I invited them on our local
interview show, and they gladly spread the word about the class to
our listeners. Since participation in events and activities around
here is very low sometimes, they were hoping to get 5-7 people to
sign up for the class. But in fact, 15 people registered, including
myself, filling the class. So each week we meet, a few experienced
hams, and a lot of us new members, and have been going through the
book so that we can all apply for our Technician license. Right now
it looks like all of us are ready for the test, and should all be
passing. Our test is actually next week, so wish us luck!
Thanks again for contacting us and letting me know. We will
definitely print out your attached letter, and add it to the
collection on our wall. Expect something in the mail from us over
the next few weeks too....
