The changes actually had nothing to do with the demise of Air America. 
They were related to shifts on the FM dial: the former KDES-FM 104.7 
Palm Springs is being moved over the mountains to Redlands to become a 
Riverside/San Bernardino station.

The KDES-FM calls and oldies format moved to the former beautiful music 
KWXY-FM 98.5 Cathedral City.

The KWXY calls and beautiful music format moved to the former 
progressive talk KPTR 1340 Cathedral City (which used to be KWXY AM back 
in the day.)

The KPTR calls and progressive talk format moved to the former talker 
KGAM 1450 Palm Springs...and KGAM went away.
