[HCDX] Skywaves Radio

Skywaves Radio started regular transmissions on May 15th via the live365.com
website. The station was originally devised to promote the British FM and TV
Circle and the DX hobby in general. But why stop at FM and TV DX? It seemed
like a better idea to ask other organisations if they would like to
participate and promote other areas of DXing.

DX organisations have reported a decline in their membership, comments have
been heard that there are less and less young people becoming interested in
the hobby. The idea of having on demand audio via DX websites adds to
existing promotional tools.

The current playlist consists of programmes by the British FM and TV Circle,
British DX Club, World DX Club and the Worldwide FM and TVDX Association. A
programme from the Worldwide Harmonics Group will follow shortly. Other
groups will be joining and programmes streams will be updated on the 15th of
each month. The audio is kept to a low sampling rate so as many people as
possible can listen in. The station will be on-line 24 hours a day.

To listen to Skywaves Radio go to
http://www.skywaves.co.uk
and click on the Play Now icon. The stream will play through your existing
audio player such as Winamp, Real Player.

You can also listen via http://www.live365.com. Search for skywaves and then
you can access the station via the live365 audio player. You will need to
undergo a quick audio configuration if its the first time you have logged on
to live 365. The site carries rotating banner ads which may cause audio drop
out with lower modem connection speeds.

Comments and suggestions are welcome. If you would like to contribute,
whether as a DX club or an individual, please contact John Faulkner at

John Faulkner,BFMTVC via Mike Barraclough, World DX Club Skywaves Radio
