Glenn Hauser logs January 13-14, 2020
Tuesday, January 14 2020

** ARGENTINA [non]. 5800, UT Tue Jan 14 at 0138, WRMI playing ``Onward
Christian Soldiers`` warmongering hymn as if it were crusading WHRI
--- fill music instead of RAE AAM relay in Spanish as scheduled from
0100. A new Monday program must have been produced but fails to make
it to air for unknown reason. One thing I know: the file name must be
exactly correct and in the proper System for the automation to put it
on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MADAGASCAR [non]. In last report I meant to say B-19 rather than
A-19, fixed: HFCC B-19 has a wooden registration for EKAla, Sri Lanka
at 0100-0430 with 10 kW at 350 degrees across India on 6005 --- but
that site is long gone for YEARS! and indeed no longer mentioned in
the WRTH 2020 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 88.3, Jan 13 at 2002 UT, K202BY, Family Radio satellator
in Enid is still OFF, fortunately not cutting on QRM in the 88.0v area
either at the moment, allowing thru traces of KOSR Stillwater.

But a change of source is in the offing, per Doug Smith`s FCC info Jan
3 in the WTFDA Forum:

``OKLA Enid 88.3 K202BY XR 250w-V/80m, 36-23-57/97-52-48 (KJIL-99.1
Copeland, Kans. via satellite)``

KJIL is another gospel huxter closer-in with 25 relayers in OK, KS, CO
and even TX --- 22 of them translators, not including this one, per
WTFDA FM Database. I wonder if KJIL know that K202BY need heavy
repairs or replacement.

FCC FM Query still shows it owned by Family Radio, but also with a
recent Consummation Notice about transfer to --someoone--, no mention
of KJIL, as of Dec 17, 2019:

BTW, it shows the address for Family Stations not in Sacramento CA,
but Shenandoah IA, where they run KYFR 920.

88.3 is easily checked here as it`s the chosen feeder frequency for my
SW car radio. At same time there was an open carrier on 87.9 from
someone else`s feeder (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Jan 13 from 2258 to 2328, I leave receiver on in vain
hope that VOT English to N America will come on better late than:
never. Something`s always wrong at Emirler. This probably means there
won`t be any extranebonus German hour either from 2400 (Glenn Hauser,

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2016 monitoring: barely confirmed
Monday January 13 at 1919 the 1901 on IRRS 7290 via Romania(?) as
checked via UTwente SDR --- at first it seemed totally off rather than
usual bigsig, but tuning a step down in USB, carrier detected -- then
narrowing BW, synch, can barely recognize my intonation, but totally
unreadable. What changed, just propagation? Usual huge splash from CRI
East Turkistan 7295 unabated.

Also confirmed UT Wed Jan 14 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, JBA. Next:
0900 UT Wednesday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7780, Mon Jan 13 at 2011, Russian VP on WRMI, probably only
time for that language, during `Radiopanorama` DX program. VP here but
maybe make it to Eurussia, aimed thataway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. 7490.2v, UT Tue Jan 14 at 0144 check, WBCQ is
S6-S8, too poor and not enough to overcome noise level when we would
like to hear `From the Isle of Music` --- this is all too typical for
WBCQ reception. This time I compare it to other 7 MHz band signals:
7850, CHU S9+10
7780, WRMI S6-S8
7730, WRMIBS S9+10/20
7570, WRMIBS S9+10/20
7365, Marti Grimesland S9+50/60, no jamming audible
7355, Marti Grimesland S9+50, no jamming audible
7340, Romania Romanian S8-S9
7325, Romania English S9/S9+10
7315, WHRI Vietnam S9+10/20
7305, Vatican Grimesland, S9+20
All of these but CHU must be running a lot more power than this WBCQ,
and/or better positioned to serve deep North America. WBCQ is even
aimed thisaway unlike Grimesland, etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 700, Jan 13 at 2004 UT on caradio, Dallas ad in English.
KHSE Wylie TX, one sesquikW day power, barely reaches here on daytime
groundwave when local noise quiet enough. NRC AM Log says format is
``Asian`` as Radio Caravan with IBOC. Website shows quite a staff, and
Hindi/Bollywood as well as Telugu:
$ tereo music stream autolaunches without permission, when I check at
0255 UT Jan 14. Soon announcement in English about upcoming events in
DFW. Shows include one Pakistani (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1040, Jan 13 at 2006 UT on caradio, Des Moines weather,
timecheck and WHO ID, which makes it here with residual daytime lowsun
skywave scarcely a sesquihour after local mean noon (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** U S A. 1090, UT Mon Jan 13 at 0706 UT, another check of KAAY Little
Rock which has been haywire the past two nights at this time. Now,
it`s back to ``normal`` with well-modulated country gospel songs.
Maybe it had been plugged into totally mistuned satellite TV feeds
overnight, nohuman noticing? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
