Hauser
** CANADA. 61.26 MHz, August 12 from before 0300 UT, this site
http://www.livemeteors.com/
is live-monitoring frequency for meteor-scatter pings at the annual
peak of the Perseid shower; explains that from the Wash DC area a yagi
is aimed at Timmins, Ontario, where there still exists a full-power
analog TV station, on channel A3, video offset-plus, i.e. 100 kW
CITO-TV per W9WI.com. I have indeed heard a few pings in a few
minutes. It also warns that prolonged pings would be something else,
and from 0405 I am getting some of those which I suspect are
MS-induced sporadic E probably from same station. It seems that on the
KiwiSDR roster there are NONE tuning the FM band, or any VHF from 30
to 108 MHz. Chris Mackerell in NZ explains that those SDRs are not
designed to do so. A check of our northern sky found it clear for a
change but too much Enid light pollution and mosquitoes to watch it
very long. 73, (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 11120, Aug 12 at 1417, CNR1 jammer JBA, the only one now,
none detected WOOB in the 14s, 13s, 12s (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 4765, Aug 12 at *0029 just as I tune in via Virginia KiwiSDR,
noise blob cuts on air covering 4760-4770, evidence that this mess is
just the Radio Progreso transmitter as scheduled but totally out of
whack: no trace of program modulation. Something`s always wrong at
RadioCuba. It does not sound like DRM however, and the SDR does not
recognize or decode it as such; in fact, if you mash DRM you get a
roster of known DRM transmissions, maybe not the current frequency.

Hey, at this very time, Arnie should be in AM on RHC for the mit-week
[sic] edition of `DXers Unlimited`, so he could explain it! But he
won`t as he never deals with any of countless Cuban technical SNAFUs;
instead it`s all about ham DX for the last few minutes of his show.
6000 is suptorted [not ``supported`` as one editor ``corrected`` a
previous mention: I explain again that I coined that word to combine
suppressed and distorted, which is just what RHC and some other
stations provide] while 6145 is sufficient. Meanwhile 5025 Rebelde is
undermodulated but readable and not distorted. The 4765 blob is still
same around 0130, and by 0400 is off, again matching Progreso
scheduling. Mark Coady first reported this anomaly on August 9 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, Aug 12 at 0052, RHC Spanish is suptorted on it #1
legacy frequency, 11800 undermodulated, and 11670 off. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MALI. 5995, Aug 12 at 0612, ORTM with good S9/+10 signal and even
good modulation, in language maybe Bambara, rooster-crow just before
today`s Bamako sunrise of 0620; no ACI from 6000 Cuba already off
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 515-MCW kHz, Aug 12 at 1406 UT, NDB PN in Ponca City is
off; 341-MCW, EI in Enid is on now; earlier at 0623 I could not make
it out vs HSNL, but traces of OIN in KS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 600 kHz, Aug 12 at 0618 UT, `Coast to Coast AM` from a
strong station and a weaker one echoing. WMT Cedar Rapids, Iowa, lost
tower during the derecho, and was reported off the air; it`s normally
dominant here, lobe aiming thisaway but does not quite make it, days.

The other listed C2CAM 600 affiliates in last year`s NRC AM Log are
KCOL in CO, KTBB in TX and WREC in TN, all of which could also be
heard here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6134.882, Aug 12 at 0614, JBA signal in the variable
area where could be either R. Aparecida, Brasil, or Radio Santa Cruz,
Bolivia, more likely the former altho it is sometimes on the plus side
about 6135.2; normally nonesuch at this nightpart (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

This report dispatched at 1639 UT August 12
