Glenn Hauser logs January 10-11, 2021

Hauser
** CANADA. 258-MCW kHz, Jan 10 at 0700, ND beacon dash and ZSJ, which
is 1000 watts from Sandy Lake, Ontario. Per
https://dxinfocentre.com/ndb.htm
it`s the only beacon anywhere on 258. See my Oct 14 log for more about
this place.

269-MCW kHz, Jan 10 circa 0710 UT, ND beacon dash and UDE, which is 50
watts from Delta, Manitoba; I was tuned to 268-USB. Yes, a Canadian
not starting with Y- or Z-. There is a Delta Beach on my atlas at the
southern end of Lake Manitoba near the coordinates for this. BTW, did
you know there is a town called Reykjavik further up the western shore
of L. Manitoba? BTW2, Lake Winnipeg is much larger than lake Manitoba,
even tho Manitoba province is much larger than Winnipeg city. UDE last
logged here Oct 15 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13764 & 13636 approx., Jan 10 at 1451, RHC spurblobs very
weak to JBA out of 13700-AM; but second order 13573 is quite stronger
at S3 with F# tone: ~63-64 kHz intervals. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 960, Jan 10 before and after 07 UT, KGWA Enid is not in
dead air unlike every weeknight before. Maybe a Sunday-only thing as
per schedule (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2068 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
January 10 at 2306 the 2300 on Area 51 via WBCQ, 6159.25V, S9/+10 into
Virginia SDR; first tried Rochester NY but skipping over, JBA carrier
and a *second* one -- Brasil past 2300* or Germany past 2200* per
Aoki? Again HRI steps on my last word at 2329, ``disclaimer``.

Also confirmed UT Monday Jan 11 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG direct; I
also try an Oahu SDR roughly on 285 beam into its afternoon: S4 poor

Also confirmed UT Monday Jan 11 at 0230 on WRMIs: 7780, S9/+10 direct
but poor, undermodulated; and 5800 VG S9+20 with full modulation,
sounds *much stronger* than 7780.

Jean-Michel Aubier and Richard Langley point out that WRMI has a new
transmission grid. New handy link I have created is
http://www.tinyurl.com/WRMIgrid

The one which had been updating is stuck on outdated tiny: /WRMIfqs

The imaginary 21-22 block of System D blue at 21-22 with no
frequencies has finally been deleted. Still there is 10-11 UT on
System F red 5850 including a WOR airing, needs to be confirmed.

The longtime UT Monday 0430 on 9955 is eliminated due to the Prague
expansion. There is a new 9955 time Saturday at 2230. So all shown:

Fri 0130 on 7780 [also 5850? heard this week. 5850 is not accounted
for on any other System during the 01-02 hour]
Sat 1300 on 15770
Sat 2230 on 9955 new
Sat 2300 on 7780 [confirmed]
Mon 0030 on 7730
Mon 0230 on 5800, 7780
Tue 0330 on 5800
Wed 1030 on 5850 [unconfirmed]
Wed 2100 on 7780
Wed 2300 on 9955
Thu 0130 on 5010

Next WOR airings with WRMI integrated into the rest:

1901vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE [resumed?]
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW [to be confirmed]
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE [resumed]
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:

Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support:
thanks this week to Robert Zerilli, Hazlet NJ, for a contribution via
PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com and commenting: ``I`m a long time SWL
and appreciate you being out there``

One may also contribute by MO or check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn
Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5010, Jan 11 at 0230, WRMI is still on, opening R. Praga in
Spanish, now extended until 0300*, S9/+10 vs het from
Madagascar-minus.

4980, Jan 11 at 0231, WRMI with something in English, VP, not //
others, probably SMTV as sked (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VENEZUELA. 7375, Jan 11 at 0115, no signal yet from ROCV, checked
at Bonaire SDR, but heavy ACI from algo on 7380. There is algo JBA on
6200 unlikely to be ROCV either; maybe Tibet at sunrise 0052 UT.

Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain, had reported on Jan 8: ``VENEZUELA, Radio
Onda Corta Venezuela, El Tigre, 6200 and 7375. According with
information in the Whatsapp Group "Banda Corta Venezuela" from the
owner and technical director of R. O. C. V., Gregorio Kina, this
station will be back to the air very soon, probably next Sunday,
alternating 6200 and 7375 kHz. Gregorio is currently adjusting the
antennas of the station.`` ROCV will have to avoid 7375 at 22-24 when
Radio Marti is on it; but Cuban jamming will extend beyond: another
poor frequency choice (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNSOLICITED TESTIMONIAL

``From a long time fan --- Mr. Hauser: I’ve been a SWL fan since that
1970s Popular Mechanics article that laid out the radio spectrum in
primary color graphics and showed in a high level way what kinds of
stations a listener could hear from all over the world. I was happy
to hear that you are still in the game, particularly as your name used
to pop up in all manner of places when I would research shortwave
radio listening.

This is just a quick note to say thanks for your inspiration, from a
now long ago kid from a small town who used to cover his wall with
maps and who dreamed of a world connected by positive flows of
information and learning whereby we could all help each other no
matter where we came from to be the most informed and be our best
selves.

Be safe, and wishing you and yours all the best for a better 2021.
Thanks, Lance Pierce``
