Glenn Hauser logs August 17, 2021
Wednesday, August 18 2021

Hauser
** CANADA. 335-MCW kHz, Aug 17 at 0624 UT, ND beacon YLD is JBA, 1000
watts from Chapleau ON. Only other ones making it lately but not
specifically logged at this time: 332 QT Thunder Bay, and 382 YPL
Pickle Lake, both ONs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KASHMIR [non]. 15170, Aug 17 at 1515, another Tuesday-only
broadcast of IRRS with Kashmir Civitas; via UTwente, S9+25, cuts off
air for few seconds just as I tune in and back on. This week it keeps
going in presumed Urdu talk with understrumming, no early cut to
extraneous songs in English. Still talking when modulation cut at
1529, replaced by ROMANIA interval signal twice until carrier off at
1529.5*. It also sounded like a power reduxion and increase in noise
level before RRI IS started, but was not watching strength meter
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Aug 17 at 0625, JBA carrier the only one on
9-kHz intervals. A bit stronger than last time, but I never get any
audio from presumed R. Kiribati; Xmas island so far eastward from the
rest of the far-flung island nation that it`s already long post-sunset
0438 UT, at Kiritimati UT +14,
https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/kiribati/kiritimati
similar to Hawaii to the north at UT -10 = really the same zone except
for 24 hours apart (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN [and non]. 15520, Aug 17 at 2257, S5-S6 of dead air no doubt
from REE into Maryland SDR, yet another day of RNE failing to
modulate, presumably for several hours, while the other three
frequencies are to be heard, 17855, 11940 and 11670. 15520 continues
dead past 2301 until cutoff at 2306* -- probably the normal weekday
time following a few minutes of earworm IS as on 11670 but unchecked
during this period after noting 2301 that frequency had RHC colliding,
just now on air // 11760, with REE // 11940. By 2306 recheck, only RHC
is left on 11670. Something`s nonsensical at Noblejas: they keep
turning the 15520 transmitter on but do not notice it`s silent (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2099 monitoring: ``From: Richard Lemke, St.

** U S A. 1540, Aug 17 at 0632 UT, ``America`s Best Music, AM 1540 and
98-7 FM``. NRC AM Log shows that matches KBOA Kennett MO in the SE
corner bootheel, NOStalgia format, U1, 1000 watts day, ONE WATT night,
yeah, sure. That would be 700 km per watt, or 435 miles per watt.
Briefly atop jumble including talker presumed 50 kW KXEL IA and vs
ever-present het from 1540.2, WKVQ, Eatonton GA daytimer (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1550 kHz, am trying August 17 to confirm KKLE Winfield KS,
which apparently has been off air for almost a year, time to make a
showing or lose license; in light of sibling Rocking M Media station
1130 KLEY Wellington KS, C&W music already back on for several days
and audible even at night despite legal power of ONE WATT.

In fact, per NRC AM Log, KKLE shares exactly the same Wellington
street address as KLEY! Could both also be at same transmitter site?
No, FCC info shows KKLE in fact at Winfield, east of Wellington and
north of Ark. City. KKLE is 250 watts daytime and ND but if on,
nowhere near the 250-watt day signal 1130 puts in here with direxional
disadvantage if really in play, but with lower-frequency groundwave
advantage. 1550 on or off has never been obvious here like 1130.

1550, Aug 17 at 1502 UT on R75 with E/W longwire, I have sports talk
interview, not news, fading with fast SAH, so at least two stations.
On DX-398, DF of most signal from NNE/SSW, i.e. KKLE. At 1700 on ND
caradio, music which among the closest 1550s implies KRZD Springfield
MO, 5 kW ND if it`s still rock as in last year`s NRC AM Log. KMAD
Madill in S OK next to TX also listed as C&W, 250 watts ND, but I
never hear it and not sure it be on air now.

At 1704 UT on NRD-545 with E-W loop, I can hear an ``ESPN Radio``
mention, which points to KYAL Sapulpa OK, 2.5 kW direxional, and the
`dominant` daytime 1550 if you can call it that. Also in the fringe
area is KDCC Dodge City KS, but listed with Fox Sports Radio, 1 kW
direxional. KKLE format was News/Talk, which I am not now hearing on
1550, but I did have a DF of at least a carrier from that angle.

I also monitored 1550 around sunset, 0100+ UT, but too much further
confusion with skywavers also incoming. August SS/SR times for KKLE to
switch between ND 250 and 52 watt powers: 0115/1145; September:
0030/1215 UT. NRC says KKLE also has pre-sunrise authority for 63
watts, i.e. from 1100 UT until times above. But from KLEY 1130
behavior, it`s kleyr that Rocking M stations don`t strictly follow the
rules of federal communications LAW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 0000 UT August 18
