Hauser
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Jan 8 at 1451, no signal from LRA36
into Brasil SDR this Saturday. Maybe really on summer hiatus now
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 4925-, Jan 8 at 0230, JBA talk, S8/9 with some flutter,
presumed the only station known on 4925, R. Educação Rural, Tefé,
Amazonas, known to be active but seldom heard here. Slightly low in
frequency compared to WWV 5000.00000. WRTH & Aoki claim until 0200*,
but EiBi to 0300* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 1610 kHz, UT Sat Jan 8 at 0253, CHHA Toronto is in Tagalog
about Philippine elexion, some English words mixed in, then New Year
song in English, or rather recitation with music background. Year-old
program grid:
http://chha1610am.ca/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Parrilla-CHHA-ENE-2021.jpg
does show a Tagalog hour at 02-03 UT Tue-Sat. Website goes mainly by
call letters, but also Radio Voces Latinas. Some time ago I heard a
slogan ``La Voz de la Comunidad`` and this was spread widely as a
change from ``R-V-L-``, without any credit to me. On air I am not at
all sure there has been a formal change from one to the other. Perhaps
the `new` slogan should be lower-case. Note: Tagalog, as well as
Punjabi, English, also on sked are not Latinas! While Italian,
Portuguese, Spanish, do qualify (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6000, Jan 8 at 0240, RHC English is S9+20/30 but
undermodulated with whine; while // 9700 only S8/9 but better
modulation. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 4030-AM, Jan 8 at 0233, JBA music. These say it`s
Ball Smacker Radio:

Just before, I had heard no pirates on the 6.9 MHz band (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. The FCC website in last report is the one that leads to this
one I meant to link directly: Status of FCC HF Licensees:
https://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/ib/forms/reports/swr025b.hts?as_subsystem_code=IHF/IHF&column=V_SITE_ANTENNA_FREQ.date_expireD/DATE+EXPIRE&fstate=1/CURRENT&prepare=
Includes imaginary stations KIMF, WIPE, WHRI, something in Alaska
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. 880, UT Sat Jan 8 at 0557, I`m checking remotes
near to KJJR Whitefish MT, an hour before its DX test is to begin, to
get a feel for the situation. Cœur d`Alène ID not much; there are two
in NW MT. I settle on the one at Huson, which is just NW of Missoula
on I-90, and about 99 miles due south of Whitefish, which is just
north of Kalispell. Jim Bohannon is just wrapping up on KRVN Lexington
NE, which is also the dominant signal direct to here. It beams
westward but broadly with 50 kW. I also hear an ``Oilers`` mention, no
doubt Edmonton AB, 50 kW CHQT, supposedly direxional NW except for a
very minor lobe toward KRVN.

At 0701 I resume listening via Huson, and immediately hear Morse VVV.
Got to be KJJR altho calls not copied. KRVN continues to be dominant
signal even in MT, Fox ``news``. KJJR is so weak under it that hard to
believe it`s really running 10 kW ND day power, but of course it is
mountainous in between. 0705 some C&W music but could be a third
station. Phone-off-hook pulses, sweeps upward as KRVN is starting `Our
American Stories`.

At 0710-0715 I monitor direct into my E/W longwire and R75, and do
hear high-pitched continuous tones at 0710 & 0711; sweeps upward at
0712. So I know I *have* DXed this direct. Recording inconvenient so I
will not qualify for QSL or even report to station/CPC.

0715-0718 I switch to my DX-398 with internal antenna on altazimuth
wrist mount, but nothing from KJJR even with KRVN nulled as much as
possible; but the two are too close to the same direxion.

0718.5-0720 trying R75 again, nothing but KRVN.

0724 back to Huson where I can make out sweeps, 0726 VVV and now a
string of maybe 5 KJJR IDs in Morse; 0729 touch-tone phone tones; slow
VVV, and then solid tone. I would have preferred more time devoted to
KJJR IDs than all those other sounds. Anyhow, tnx for the test. I
gather it was widely heard from Norway to Florida to Massachusetts
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
