Glenn Hauser logs March 17-18, 2022
Friday, March 18 2022

Hauser
** CUBA. 9535, March 17 at 0458, aha, RHC S9:5 into Maryland SDR,
opening ``second hour`` in English after Spanish --- but chopped off
the air at 0500* as a mistake. Something`s always wrong at RHC. I
switch to 6000 where English continues, and 6165 but unusually weak
S7/S8 with ACI from WBCQ. 9700 is Turkey and 6145 Romania.

Further chex March 17: at 0637, English on 6165, now S9+40 with hum
during Mailbag; 6100 also English and hum S9+20; 6060 English at
S9+20/30. 6000 is off and 5040 in Spanish. And a JBA carrier on 6140
which is probably leapfrog of 6060 over 6100; no other ones heard on
6270 or 6230. Something`s always wrong at RHC.

11880 after 2300 March 17, RHC again in English, maybe to stay (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** FRANCE [non]. 15770, March 17 at 1910, WRMI has resumed R. Prague
in English after yesterday`s test of RFPI in Russian; however, without
notice, what had been the first broadcast of WORLD OF RADIO at
0130-0200 UT Friday has been replaced March 18 by `Viva Miami` - and
RFPI! on the Systen F schedule, 5850 and 7780. This VM? segment
consisted of the CBS4 Miami report about WRMI and Shortwave for
Freedom; A. Schwarzenegger`s comments on the war, and the Ukrainian
NA; 0145 RFPI multilingual opening and their Russian program --- in
the middle of the night over there! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6920-, AM, March 17 at 0643, JBA music with heavy
beat and announcement, presumed the usual R. Pushka (rifle) Russian
ethnic pirate on its expansive schedule (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 6145, March 17 at 0502, Romanian, S9/+10 into Maryland
SDR, RRI hour for W Europe from Galbeni, but certainly not available
for RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** UKRAINE [non]. 7780, March 17 at 0503 tune-in until 0506, WRMI new
relay of Ukrainian Radio in English segment, rapid translation and
back to Ukrainian. Wish they would put English at a reliable time and
length; another day there was no English in this span (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15120, March 17 at 1619, Spanish on the ATS-909 portable,
tnx to tip of Kenneth Vito Zichi of R. Martí on new frequency at 1530;
but gone by my 1644 recheck of St Lucia SDR. My explanation: likely
test or mistake at Grimesland, scheduled on 15120 only at 2130-2200
M-F for VOA Bambara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2129 monitoring: confirmed UT
Thursday March 17 at 0130 on WRMI 5010, S9+15/25 into Boa Vista SDR
but VP considering noise level.

WORLD OF RADIO 2130 contents: Angola, Antarctica, Armenia, Australia,
Austria, China, Cuba, France and non, (Germany), Japan/Korea South,
Kurdistan non, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mali, México, Mongolia and non,
Netherlands, New Zealand, North America, (Pridnestovye), Russia and
non, Solomon Islands, Spain, (Turkey), Ukraine and non, UKOGBANI, USA,
Vanuatu; propagation outlook ()countries mentioned not in order

** U S A. 4790, UT Thu March 17 at 0300-0400, Radio Angela on WBCQ
with a great hour of Mexican mostly ranchera music on the new `Radio
Maria Bonita` program. I hunt around for best reception on a remote
close enough for a stronger signal but hopefully far enough away from
the continuous whine QRM across eastern USA, settle on Lorain, Ohio
but still with some whine, S9+15 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 0155 UT March 18
