traditional ChiCom jammers of Sound of Hope; none in the 11 MHz area

channels at once, unusual: 6000 S9+10/20; 6060 S9+10 with hum; 6100
S9+10; 6165 S9+20/30 but less modulated. Something`s always wrong at

** GREECE. Christos Rigas near Chicago forwards news that ERT got a
two-month reprieve for shortwave until the end of May. They may not
have got word at Avlis site, as no signal on 9420 into UTwente at
1809. Hope they didn`t hasten to blow the thing up. By 2318, some
Greekish music is JBA, maybe degraded propagation; but nothing at all
to Maryland. Or could really be Beijing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GUAM. 11590, April 1 at 1443, S9/+10, one of best signals on band,
mentions ``Radyosu`` so must be Turkic language; contact info with TWR
and .hk, off at 1444.6*. It`s KTWR in Kazakh daily, 250 kW and 305
degrees, way offbeam thisaway. I wonder how many Kazax they have

** MONGOLIA. 12014.878, April 1 at 1447 algo talk at S5/S7, presumably
VOM`s offfrequency signature altho VOK in Russian is also sked on
12015. Aoki shows English at 1430-1500, really? Has been 1530-1600 as
in WRTH with Chinese at 1430-1500. BTW there is a very rare typo in
the page 486 heading, MOGOLIA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PHILIPPINES. 9410, April 1 at 1500, VOA `YDD` S9/+10 closing and
1501*. Was an hour in Korean from Tinang, 21 degrees so aimed onwards
right at us. 9410 mainly a BBC frequency, taking a one-hour break at
1400, but not heard resuming from Oman at 1500 in English, nor
scheduled Cairo in Albanian (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 11940, Friday April 1 at 2225, token English from REE
concluding part 1 of an Amy interview about tromp-l`oeil art in
America; best to Maryland SDR on this S American beam! As 17855 for
NAm is weaker and fadier, with 15520 backwards to ME even worse. BTW,
has anyone heard Justin Coe with an REE mailbag, or ``DX program``
this year? Late last year we thought they were showing up maybe

** SWAZILAND. 9585, April 1 at 1456 good signal S9/+10 in unknown
language. Aoki shows TWR starts at 1455 M-F in Mal, i.e. Malagasy, or
French on weekends. Azimuth is 64 degrees and could be long-path. I`m
dragging my feet on recognizing namechange to Eswatini. That`s fine in
Siswati, but this is English. BTW, starting at 1458 is CRI in Japanese

direct; 7730-ex7780, S8/S9 and noisy at new Durango2 Mexico SDR.

About the next scheduled airing 0330 Friday on WRMI 5985, I wrote to
Jeff White at 0411:

Jeff, With NHK gone I was wondering if it would be worth it to keep
5985 on the air at all? I see it is still on your schedule. As usual
trying to confirm WOR at 0330 UT Friday, I could not hear anything at
several remotes in several direxions; but then [at 0341] I could
*barely* detect what sounded like my voice at the Bonaire remote -- as
if on air but very reduced power? Propagation may be disturbed, but
surely not that much. 5970 WEWN is still well audible everywhere; as
is your 5950 for example.

I have also noticed 4980 missing last night and again tonight. Hope
you are not having further transmitter or antenna problems. So
appreciate it if you can fill us in on what`s happening with these.

I would not be surprised if 5985 were running the exciter only. There
has been no reply; nor anything about these on disgraced FB. Another
check of 5985 direct at 0354 got a JBA carrier only; and 4980 off.

WOR 2132 also confirmed Friday April 1 at 1430 on WRMI 9955, S8/S5 and
seems somewhat undermodulated.

Also confirmed Friday April 1 at 1815 on IRRS SW, 7290 via Bulgaria,
only S8/S9+5 into UTwente and no trace of 14580 second harmonic. Also
on AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S9/+10 into nearby Noale SDR, but considerable
CCI in German from Romania`s minority service, as this has also moved
one UT hour earlier than in winter. We are usually atop and maybe will
improve as sunset latens.

Also confirmed Friday April 1 at 2030 on AM Italia, 1323, good S9+5
and no QRM by now but some occasional storm crashes into Noale SDR.
Previous unID program discussing how far-right is not always inversely
proportional to environmentalism; as usual chopped off incomplete at
2030 for ID, then WOR. The canned IDs continue to invite postal mail
to the Box in Milano, while publicity from Ron Norton specifies that

reminding me of R. Tawantinsuyo, Cuzco, Perú which has been inactive
for a long time, and was always offset about 6173.9. It`s still in
Aoki, of course, on 6174. And still in WRTH 2022 as OAX7C, 1 kW on
6173, and not daggered as inactive or irregular. It was last reported
by LOB in Brasil June 22, and by me remotedly by June 26, 2021.
