bclnews

On 5950 kHz, beginning at 2300 UTC on Saturday, May 21, and continuing into Sunday, May 22, Texas Radio Shortwave presents three hours of music and drama programs, including two new shows this week.

Here’s the lineup:

2300 UTC (Saturday, May 21) - Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar (Episodes from 1955)

0000 UTC (Sunday, May 22) - 2022 Conroe Crossroads Music Festival Week 2

0100 UTC (Sunday, May 22) - Roy Orbison Tribute Encore.

Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar

The series ran on CBS radio from 1949 until 1962.  It was described as “the transcribed adventures of the man with the action-packed expense account – America's fabulous freelance insurance investigator.”

TRSW will feature Camel Rock & Roll Dance Party on June 4 and 11.  Six more shows, running through the end of August, will be announced soon—all at 2300 UTC Saturdays on 5950 kHz.

2022 Conroe Crossroads Music Festival Week 2

The festival is new this year and has a list of performers that some longer-established festivals would like to have.

This week’s artists are:

David Beck's Tejano Weekend

Folk Family Revival

Harvest Thieves

Jomo & The Possum Posse (Feat. Matt Hillyer)

Jordan Matthew Young

Kevin Galloway

Keyun & The Zydeco Masters

Mickey & Gary Braun (of Mickey & the Motorcars)

Next week in this time slot, the TRSW Fifth Sunday Special has music by Meat Loaf.

Roy Orbison Tribute Encore

The program includes these songs:

Almost Eighteen

Come Back to Me (My Love)

Devil Doll

Here Comes That Song Again

I Can’t Stop Loving You

I Never Knew

It’s Too Late

Mean Little Mama

Ooby Dooby

Problem Child

Raindrops

Rock House

Sweet and Easy to Love

Sweet and Innocent

This Kind of Love

Today’s Teardrops

You’re Gonna Cry

You’re My Baby.

Many of these songs are from one of Orbison’s first albums, Roy Orbison at the Rock House.

On May 29, the TRSW Fifth Sunday Prime program features ZZ Top, with late group member Dusty Hill.
