Glenn Hauser logs November 20-21, 2022
Monday, November 21 2022

Hauser
** CUBA. 11880, Nov 20 at 2252, RHC English finally caught for first
time this Beason, so apparently nominally 22-23 UT as per usual
pattern shift. S9+10 but JBM, but can recognize `Ed Newman` voice in
Mailbag at 2257; some hashy ACI from 11885 side. Usually no signal on
11880 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. I`m hunting for the alleged third of three Sunday broadcasts
in Esperanto on RHC. Website sked says 2230-2300 on 17730 to Buenos
Aires, but that frequency is years out of date. B-22 current EiBi
shows 2330-2400 on 15730, but that frequency is not on either at 2337.
Supposedly at 2330-0100 only in French, Creole and Portuguese, with
Esperanto pre-empting French on Sundays. No sign of Esp`o if any RHC
on 19, 22, 25, 31 m at 2250 check Nov 20 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9440, Nov 20 at 2240, S9+10 open carrier direct, except for
some whine, R. Cairo nominally 2115-2245 English to N America.
Something`s always egregious in Egypt. Sometimes not turned on at all,
sometimes with extremely distorted undermodulation (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CUBA. 10080, Nov 20 at 2236, 2251 and still 2305, S9/+10 open
carrier, presumed RHC 5040 transmitter ``testing``, mistuned to second
harmonic, nothing on 5040, but previously heard with RHC modulation.
5040 supposedly starts at 2200 per EiBi (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 4765, Nov 21 at 0152, no signal from R. Progreso into
Maryland SDR, just CODAR swirshing. 5025 & 5040 Cubans still absent
too. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U K [non]. 11825, Nov 20 at *2256 open carrier, S9+10 with some
humwhine; 2258.5 one kHz tone; 2300 2+1 timesignal, so missed first
few pips from Greenwich? BBC ID and promo this hour to be `BBC
Trending` after 2301 news by Sue Montgomery. This one hour is relay
via USAGM Tinang, PHILIPPINES (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Re my 325 kHz unID NDB, Q: Harold Frodge replies: ``Paul
Dobosz sez maybe MA from Midland TX.`` Harold, Tnx, I bet that`s it.
Often heard here when awake. Maybe M+A were run together or I was too
sleepy to notice a pause. On 326 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2165 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
November 20 at 2100 on NEXUS/IBA IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz,
S9+10/20 into nearby Noale SDR, only lite CCI from presumed Smooth
Radio, England.

Also confirmed UT Monday November 21 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, but has
heavy noise suspected of being internal defect? Maybe not, as it`s
worse into Maryland remote than Missouri, S9+5. Waterfall shows
blotchy noise from 7760 to 7800, unlike Cuban jamming. It seems to
pause before 0100, resume for gospel huxter. Strange.

Also confirmed UT Monday November 21 at 0130 on WRMI 5950, VG S9+15/28
into Missouri SDR. Next:

0400vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW
0130 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed by Cuba]
0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

** U S A. From our WOR podcast manager Keith Weston on Nov 20: ``Site
Down For a bit... Glenn, I’m having to move my web server and as a
result the podcast feed will not update for a few days, perhaps a week
or two if things go badly. I hope to have things back up and running
soon. Keith``

OK. That should not affect the RMRC podcast,
http://www.worldofradio.com/audiomid.html
or you can always pull the latest WOR direct from my website (Glenn)

** U S A. 7490-, Nov 20 at 2302, WBCQ S9+10/20 with `Uncle Bill`s
Melting Pot`, good music from Moldóva which he mispronounces Móldova
per an internet lookup (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6935 AM, Nov 20 at 2245, JBA carrier is only sign of
pirate activity, but nothing reported at hfunderground among several
unIDs now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6956/6957, Nov 20 at 2246, SSTV from some pirate? But
sounds too repetitious, ute? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9367.938, Nov 20 at 2242, S9/+10 rough carrier with
humwhine, like some kind of broadcast spur, but can`t relate to any
nearby source, nor is there any plus/minus matcher (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

This report dispatched at 0343 UT November 21
