Glenn Hauser logs November 25, 2022

Hauser
** AUSTRALIA [non]. 13755, Nov 25 at 0805, S6/S9 talk in Pidgin often
mentioning Port Moresby, the SSOB by far with only a few JBA carriers
elsewhere on band; 0814 ID as Radio Australia - but we know this is
really an RNZP relay. Its frequencies are usually slightly askew so I
bother to measure this one: 13755.016 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 5010 // 5800, Fri Nov 25 at 0557, WRMI with R.
República on both, closing announcement partially missed but says on
5010, not 5800; also now at 11 pm-midnight [EST = 04-05 UT] LMJSD =
MTTSS local days on 670 La Poderosa! Sounded like 660 but
sesenta/setenta very hard to distinguish, as this must be WWFE, Miami,
U4 50/1 kW, which at night power has zero chance of being heard in
Cuba vs 15 Rebelde transmitters all over the island, and one
Enciclopedia per WRTH. But: still no jamming heard on either SW
frequency, unlike 9955 with other exile shows, and 9490 RR via France
starting at 0100, frequency which BTW, I omit on WOR 2166. What`s the
Frequency, Glenneth? Not tuned in early enough to tell whether this
extension still be about nothing but derechos de trabajo (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 10050, Nov 25 at 0757, suptorted music at S9+10, 0759 Spanish
about Cuba, sounder, brief news. Now tuned up on second harmonic
rather than fundamental is R. Rebelde instead of 10080 = 2 x 5040
RHC!! Already at 0736 I had a JBA carrier on 5025 about as weak as
5020 Solomons: that would be Rebelde remnant exciter only. Just to be
certain, I make 10050 // MW 710 amid the USQRM at 0804. 10050 is
causing severe QRM to Gander VOLMET on 10051-USB! but somewhat
separable with USB tuning. It IDs and is ``out`` at 0800 for now.
Something`s horribly wrong at RadioCuba. At least I hear nothing on X3
= 15075 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6165, Nov 25 at 0741, S9/+10 of dead air in English from RHC
where something`s always wrong (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI. 846, Nov 25 at 0730, JBA carrier from R. Kiribati,
while no other 9 kHz splits audible, TP nor TA (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** KOREA NORTH. 7580, Nov 25 at 0744, S5/S7 classical piano music.
It`s VOK Japanese service at 07-13 per EiBi -- so is not 100% bad!
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 4025 USB, Nov 25 at 0735 UT, unID pirate with S9 of
hard rock. 4+ MHz is a secondary pirate band to 7- MHz, but I seldom
hear one, and this is way late out of prime time. Zero recent reports
of anything anywhen on 4025 in HF Underground (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U K [non]. 5845, Nov 25 at 1537, fair signal in Korean. It`s BBC
via Tinang, PHILIPPINES USAGM, likely on that 21 degree beam which
carries right on into deep North America (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 2097.3 kHz CW, Nov 25 at 0732 UT, single letter beacon A,
sent every dekasecond, JBA in noise level, from anywhere but
Quartzsite AZ. BTW, the high local `line` noise level here on LW, MW
and SW is only bound to get worse until Epiphany tho I`ve yet to see
any Xmas lighting in the immediate neighborhood (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A.. 13563.5 CW, Nov 25 at 1655, JBA beacon vs CODAR, finally
copied as PCO, occasionally a dash among many repetitions. LWCA shows:
``13563.49~ PCO Pine, CO DM79ij CW (h,r 2022/10)``

No Pine, but Pine Grove? between Castle Rock and Fairplay, SW of
Denver, in Rand McNally Large Scale Road Atlas, 2013

Wikipedia: ``Pine is an unincorporated community and a U.S. Post
Office in Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. The Pine Post
Office has the ZIP Code 80470.[1] The town is also called Pine Grove.
Every summer the residents hold the annual Rhubarb Festival.[2]``

It`s been months since I`ve logged any beacon in the 13550-13570 ISM
band, not even my most ``regular``, K6FRC. Never heard PCO before.
Distancefromto first tries Queensland coast. I think not. Spelling out
Pine or Pine Grove, Colorado, it finds one just north of Colorado
Springs, far-right far-Christian anti-gay hotspot, not the same. I`d
say PCO is a bit under 500 miles (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2166 monitoring:
{Note corrected numbering: last week 2165, this week 2166 not 2167!}

WORLD OF RADIO 2166 contents: Antarctica, Australia, (Bangladesh),
(Bulgaria), Canada, China, Cuba [and non], Egypt, France [WTFK? 9490],
Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran non, Korea North non, Korea South,
(Kuwait), Maldives, Netherlands and non, Nigeria non, Norway, (Russia
non), Sudan South, (Taiwan), Thailand, Turkey [and non], Ukraine, USA;
electric vehicles vs AM radio; Uzbekistan; propagation outlook
(countries mentioned not in order along with others)

Confirmed first SWBC, UT Friday November 25 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, with
self-imposed noise burst immediately for 10+ seconds!! Otherwise S9+10
into Missouri SDR but noisy; closest minor storms are off SE Texas and
Mississippi Gulf coast.

Also confirmed NEW time of 0830 UT Friday November 25, as first
reported last week on 5010 by Wolfgang Bueschel:

``Hi Glenn, I can confirm World of Radio new airing at 0830 Friday on
5010, 5850 and 7780. All audible on various US SDRs. 73s Dave`` Kenny

``Dear Glenn: I wasn`t sleeping that well on Nov 25 UTC. I got up and
hearing 5850 kHz playing World of Radio #2166 now. Signal was
excellent (55434) some static QRN, at 0830-0859 UTC, one in a million
check again next week, Richard`` Lemke, Alberta.

``Glenn - On Nov 25 (Friday), tuned into 5850 (WRMI), at 0848 UT,
expecting to hear the usual weekly (0800-0900) recorded diatribe of
the late Tony Alamo, but instead a Thanksgiving gift! Heard your voice
instead with WOR 2166, with good reception and // 5010 (poor) and
didn't check 7780. So a miracle has happened, you have replaced Tony
Alamo! What is now happening on 5850 from 0800-0830? Ron, California``
Howard.

Tnx for the chex! I certainly expected to be sound asleep by 0830, but
awake due to circumstances beyond my control. So I also hear me direct
at 0830 on all three frequencies. Tune in at 0828, Spanish music
already // 5010 5850 7780; 0829 switch to gospel tune in English; no
ID break, 0830 start WOR. 5010 is S9+10 but noisy; 7780 S7/S8; 5850
S9+30 aimed NW right at us.

Also confirmed Friday November 25 at 1537 the 1530 on WRMI 9955,
S9/+10 direct, no jamming audible. Next:

2130 UT Friday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy

Thanks this week to David Cole, Baton Rouge LA, for a generous check
to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

One may also contribute via PayPal not necessarily in US funds to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 4840, Nov 25 at 0737, WWCR does it again: S9+30 of dead air;
also a suspicious buzz 4854-4860 might be out of this but no match on
minus side. Something`s wacko at WWCR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5931 & 5939 approx., Nov 25 at 0739, spurs out of S9+30 PMS
on WWCR 5935 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1240 kHz, Nov 25 at 0825 UT, bandscan finds one signal
briefly atop the pileup with weather, studio address in Nevada [the
middle A is long; I have roots there], Missouri, ``97.5 FM Double-K
Country``. So it`s KNEM as in NRC AM Log with only 500/500 watts
unlike most kilowatt graveyards, and nothing there about any FM. WTFDA
FM db shows 97.5 is KNMO-FM, 6/6 kW Double-K Country, but no connexion
to 1240. But there is another Double-K Country on 99.9, K260DP which
does relay KNEM 1240. Figure that out? It`s probably my 4th-closest
1240, in a first-adjacent state, after all, 351 km = 218 miles away,
but I can`t find any previous log of it. The NRC record is held by
Wayne Heinen, Aurora CO at 573 miles. Soon back into the mush but some
station was resuming `After Hours` which is CBS Sports Radio. If this
were an ESPN on 1240, a nearer station also has a 97.5 translator, KFH
Wichita KS (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7890, Nov 25 at 0746, JBA carrier from R. Vanuatu, 2 x
3945; while 11835, 3 x 3945, finally attains JBA, i.e. modulation
audible more than just a carrier, S1/S3 of YL talk (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

This report dispatched at 2058 UT November 25
