Glenn Hauser logs April 2-3, 2023

Hauser
** CHINA. 17880, April 2 at 2240, Chinese opera, like Firedrake plus
vocalizations, then Spanish announcement, S3/S6 with flutter and the
OSOB. CRI scheduled this hour from Beijing 572 site. HFCC shows 500
kW, 318 degrees, i.e. aiming NW across Eurasia. Followed by 23-24
Portuguese on same parameters, but slightly different SAm CIRAF
targets. It`s antipodal to Bahia Blanca, Argentina, so any direxion
should work, aside from other propagational factors. And I wonder what
the real ID is now in Spanish? Translating ``China Global Television
Network Radio`` could get really cumbersome (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 21530, April 2 at 2242, JBA carrier is the OSOB. Exploring
13m after hearing nothing but Beijing on 16m. Aoki shows it`s CNR1
jamming vs Sound of Hope from Maoli, Taiwan nominally starting at 2300
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 9710, Sun Apr 2 at 2247, RHC Spanish, S9+20 talking about
``tormenta solar``, so must be the propagation sexion of DX program
`En Contacto`, probably starting about 2235; website has no current
program timing info. Wolfgang Bueschel`s DX program schedule for A23
shows it Sundays at 1335, 2235, Mondays 0135; but not 0635 when I have
heard it if a Spanish frequency be running late. Now at 2247 other
active Spanish frequencies are 11850 - axually modulating, 11760, weak
9535. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TIBET [non]. 7505, April 2 at 2253, JBA music vs high storm noise
level from southern OK vs a really nice day here: per Aoki, RFA
scheduled Tibetan this hour only via Dushanbe / Orzu, TAJIKISTAN. HFCC
is less specific about the station, just USAGM, but more specific
about the dialect, ``Bod``. OR, of course, ChiCom jammer. WRNO could
be on 7505 as early as 2200 but never is (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, April 2 at 2247, no signal from VOT English for N
America. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2184 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
April 2 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S9+10/17 into
nearby Noale SDR. I kept running it but at 2010 I am cut off, canned
``sign-off`` 207, 918, 1323 kHz in English; and stays on with frenetic
Italian programming starting with 22:10 local timecheck, then with
some English mixed in.

Also confirmed UT Monday April 3 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+15 into
Louisiana SDR.

On WBCQ Area 51, 6160 -67 Hz = 6159.933 via Maryland remote, S7/S9,
Johnny Lightning keeps on going past 0300, 0337 says something about
staying on for 4 hours - just tonight? On and on, about gun control,
etc. I`m then listening via webcast, but at 0400 I recheck 6160 via
SDR, and it`s already back to TOMBS, no WOR on SW! But WOR does start
on the webcast only at 0404. Next:

0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, Australia 5035 USB [low power]
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

** U S A. 7490-, Sun Apr 2 at 2326, continuous instrumental rockish
music from WBCQ direct. Same stuff was playing from 2205 when I tuned
in the `7490` webcast. At first I assumed that was this week`s fare on
`UBMP`, but never heard any announcements, and continued past 2300
without a break, when `Le Show` should be heard. What`s going on? Of
course no twit from AW to explain it, nor anything on the homepage.
WBCQ overtaken by fill music. Listening a while longer, I realize it`s
a loop repeating same tunes. Harold Frodge replied, ``Heard clanking
bells & weird music at 0215.`` Arthur Pozner replied, ``The carrier is
70 Hz below the assigned frequency of 7490 kHz. Brother Stair came
back suddenly at 0228 UT`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9455, April 2 at 2251, this WRMI-5 is off, as seems to be
more than on at random chex many different hours; despite nominally
24/7. Still off at 0006 April 3, when it`s supposed to be `WRMI
Legends` on System K (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9975, UT Mon Apr 3 at 0210 check, still NO signal from KVOH.
Not scheduled to resume until UT Fri at 0000. Looks like SCG really
need a new transmitter. But they hardly have a monopoly on God`s
alleged Word, nor even the ``Voice of Hope`` slogan. However the
Listen Live link on website plays (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 0422 UT April 3
