** COLOMBIA. 5909.96, Jan 30 at 0754, music S6/S8 direct, presumed Alcaraván Radio, now totally in the clear on signature off-frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA [and non]. 11760, Jan 30 at 1645 direct, RHC is modulating and flanked by wobbly spurs approx. 11764.35 and 11755.55. At 1725 now mod is mostly dead or broken up, and Maryland remote gets spur peaks approx. 11764.3 & 11755.7 -- something`s always wrong at RHC. At *1755.5, carrier comes on 11765, which would be BBC via Bulgaria, French from 1800. It`s much worse at 2308 check, multiple increasingly diffuse spurs out of 11760, all approx. at plus & minus 4.3X kHz: 11755.7 & 11764.3; then audible in range from 11720 to 11812. RNA Brasil 11780 is also flanked by them circa 11777.2 & 11785.8, but overcomes inbetweener calculated at 11781.5. Something`s very wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6955 USB, Jan 30 at 2320, pirate M&W talking and laughing, S9+10 but hard to understand. Several others agree on this unID, and there were some SSTV images: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,124885.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA, 6925 USB, Jan 30 at 2322, pirate talk, sounds like emphatic preaching, to put it politely. Other reports of same, ID as Possibilities Radio: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,124884.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960.002, Jan 30 at 2300, VOT not off the air, S9/+10 direct, better than yesterday, but too noisy and fadey. Not rechecked until 2352 into UTwente, as measured, when music goes to the canned s/off for the 1330 on 13635 only, and IS, S9+30/35 until 2355* chopoff uncovering the already audible XJRTV, East Turkistan, std denunciations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 35790, Jan 30 at 2303, JBA carrier on the R75 with shortwire. Since Don Moman, AB, reported 3rd harmonic of R Martí, 11930, Grimesland NC, on Nov 4, I`ve been checking for this; and a bit later DXMAP shows a sporadic E MUF of 70 MHz about halfway between us. First time I`ve heard any trace of it. Guess what, my archive search shows it was also heard in UK on 3rd March, 2014! as in DXLD 14-10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. [WOR] I`ll See You on the Radio - Charles Osgood --- This week`s entire, almost, CBS Sunday Morning is in tribute to its late former host, Charles Osgood - who accomplished a lot more than that: https://www.cbsnews.com/video/sunday-morning-full-episode-1-28-2024/ CBS SM is my one absolutely-must-see program. Best viewed on the air, altho on the web the sesquihour shrinx to only 62 minutes - but you will be forced to endure commercial breaks even more repetitive than on the air, tho they may be muted. It`s all worth it, especially this week (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, Jan 30 at 0748, W&M conversation, S7/S8 direct, presumed R. Vanuatu reactivated, first time heard since earthquake a week ago, related? Also reported about same time by Gary Pence, TX and Manuel Méndez, Spain (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 1218.1 kHz, Jan 30 at 0756, JBA carrier, het to 1220.00 stations. This time I still hear it on the DX-398 when the NRD-545 is off, and a very rough DF as NNE/SSW. That implies maybe from 1220 station in KS or IA. Circa 1805 UT, remotes on both sides of IA get nothing, and KS is busy. By 2123, SDR near Kansas City gets a weak 1220, not 1218+. Of course if could still be one of these with a different unit at night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 7295-7300-7305, Jan 30 at 0750, DRM noise S9+20/25. 24 hours ago this was askew centred about 7298 and noise did not sound quite right. Now it does, but whence? Remains unlisted at HFCC, Aoki, EiBi and drmrx. I suppose most likely is TDF France which has been running various pop-up DRM tests. By this late hour I`m almost asleep, computer is off so no checking remotes (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 0023 UT January 31
