** CUBA. 13650, Oct 4 at 2351, S9+10/20 of dead air from CRI
Portuguese relay of music only for years and years. It would be
interesting to compute the total cost of all that waste; how many
undernourished Cubans could have been well fed (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, KUCO Edmond/OKC, having just completed a pledge
drive successfully by 2300 UT Friday Oct 3, expected programming back
to normal, such as `Performance Oklahoma` at 1400 UT Saturday Oct 4:
great symphonic music playing, but never any announcements, past 1630
- this isn`t even syndicated classical from Minnesota or Chicago. And
on and on; finally about 23 UT Oct 4 I hear a mention that they are
having technical difficulties, and will return to normal programming
ASAP (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** U S A. 15016 USB, 11175 USB, stronger 8992 USB, Oct 4 at 2348, tail
end of USAF crypto exercise with reverb, 2349 this is ``Kay-puck``
sounds like, ``out`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 17314 USB, Oct 4 at 2343, marine weather mentioning ``Gulf

mentions hurricanes and Norfolk. The usual USCG stations are all here
including NMN Norfolk VA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 650, Oct 5 at 0042 UT just as I tune in WSM, announces that
tomorrow Oct 5 is its 100th ANNIVERSARY! and will be celebrating that
all day at the Grand Ole Opry. Then I see info from Mike Cooper about
this in the WOR iog:
```From Fayfare's Opry Blog:
``On Sunday October 5, WSM Radio will celebrate its 100th anniversary.
In addition to the annual Opry Community Day, which will include an
Opry Plaza Party and Opry House tours that will be free to Tennessee
residents, there will be a very special Sunday Night Opry that will
honor WSM that evening. The show will feature each of the WSM air
personalities, along with Opry members Dailey & Vincent, Ketch Secor
and Pam Tillis. Also on the schedule are Charlie Worsham, Elizabeth
Cook, Tommy Emmanual, Chuck Mead and Chris Scruggs and The Stone Fox
Five. That is shaping up to be a big show.``
Here's an article from Billboard last month about WSM's anniversary:
``WSM Turns 100: How One Nashville Station Leaned on Innovation to
Make
Radio History --- By Tom Roland 9/11/2025
One of the most important storylines in country music in 2025 is the
celebration of the Grand Ole Opry's 100th anniversary. But that
milestone, which arrives Nov. 25, wouldn't exist without another,
earlier centennial: the launch of WSM-AM Nashville on Oct. 5,
1925....`````
** U S A. Re gh 880 Spanish log, previously under UNIDENTIFIED:
``Mauno, your information is correct. KEYH 850 feeds the 105.3
translator. KJOZ 880 is Latino Sports and music, mostly the latter.
The La Mejor format on 104.5 doesn’t have an originating station.
Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)
** U S A. 1460, Oct 5 at 0000 UT, partial ID as 1460 and 96.7
Southward?? Of the 62 stations on 1460 in NRC AM Log, not one
correlates with FM on 96.7. But the WTFDA FM DB hits one and it looks
very likely: K244FO relay of KHOJ 1460, Crestwood MO, Covenant Radio,
a Catholic network. KHOJ is in St Charles, U4 12000/210 W, Heart of
Jesus Radio. FCC AMQ still refuses to provide SR/SS tables, but
gaisma.com shows SS today at 2339 UT, and about 2325 by mid-Oct, so
should be on night power and pattern (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 1540, Oct 5 at 0050 UT, KEDA, R. Jalapeño ID after
mentioning Linares, which is a town in NL; on N/S antenna only. Is U4
5/1 kW from San Antonio TX. I wonder if the calls allude to ``stay
here with us``? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 1620, Oct 5 at 0054 UT, ``downtown Omaha``, 402 AC phone,
Equitable Bank, 0055 ``1620 the Zone and 101-9 The Keg`` -- i.e. KOOO
101.9 La Vista NE which is an Omaha suburb, 96 kW, with adult hits,
hardly a match for a sports format? 1620 being KOZN Bellevue. They are
at the same address in Omaha itself and both owned by Nrg License Sub,
LLC.
[non] I had remembered there was something new on 1620, altho a bit
too early for it, per Tim Hall in ABDX: ``XECSCGU-1620 Guachochi
CHIHUAHUA September 29, 2025 --- Methinks they finally bought that new
2 kW transmitter they were saving up for; logged them with a pretty
solid signal here at home (south of San Diego) at 0400 UT while
testing some of my new gear last night. They were fighting with
Rebelde and my local HAR. Logged them again just now (1200 UT) on the
Mexican DX Club's SDR putting a good dent in WTAW. So they are
definitely getting out. Format is mostly Spanish contemporary
Christian music (which can sound like any other kind of music —
ranchera, norteña, etc. — you have to listen to the lyrics) and “Creo
Radio” liners. If you want to log an extremely rare 7(!)-letter call,
I'd suggest you try for this one tonight. 73 Tim`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 869.62 kHz, Oct 5 at 0048, JBA het against WWL, another
mystery. Nothing so far off in MWOffsets (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 24980 USB, Oct 4 at 2334, KZ + something in Miami FL
renders a 59 to some contact. Despite several utterances, I cannot
understand the rest of his fonetix: kilo zulu --- fernan ganji ??? KZ5
used to be prefix of `our` Panama Canal Zone (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
